Hyperlite Mountain Gear 4400 Windrider 70L Backpack reviews and deals for sale
Do yourself a favor and trek with Hyperlite Mountain Gear's ultralight 4400 Windrider Backpack, because a week's worth of camping gear is heavy enough. Despite its ultralight weight, the Windrider is surprisingly comfortable and durable to handle long hikes. Its Dyneema Hardline suspension system includes spacer mesh foam at the shoulder straps, back panel, and waist belt, and there are supportive aluminum stays that you can remove for even less weight.
Hyperlite Mountain Gear made this pack out of the same Dyneema rope fabric used to catch climbers when they fall, so you know it will last for multiple seasons. The Windrider also has a roll-top closure and taped seams for reliable protection in wet weather. There's an internal sleeve styled for hydration reservoirs, and a loop designed for ice axes. The Windrider also has external mesh pockets, zippered waist belt pockets for valuables, and top and side compression straps for a secure load.

December 31, 2018Perfect for me!
The guys previous review secured my purchase on this pack and I am incredibly pleased with this pack. I have been on a few trips so far with this pack. A few of them just weekend 2 nighters, shorter distance trips and the other one where I hauled some serious items 10 miles into Supai, (I know how to pack light but decided to reach out and donate sports equipment to the school kids).… read more My pack was probably pushing 55lbs and I had no problems at all. It expanded to allow all the items plus my own gear. It is extremely comfortable on every trip. I can put my days food in the mesh pockets so I don't need to open up the pack unless I have to. One of my weekend trips we were caught in the rain at the top of a rock outcropping and while everyone stood there and put their pack covers on I just stood there smiling knowing I was all good...not an ounce of any gear was wet on the inside! I love the fact there are not all kinds of extra compartments and zippers etc, such a simple pack that fits everything! No wasted space. It's lighter than other packs I've tried. It fits great and doesn't put pressure on my shoulders like my old pack did which caused my headaches every time I used it...I'm so glad I upgraded to this ultralight pack!

September 11, 2018Great Pack
Besides being light as a light day pack, I appreciate its expandability. So far I have used it for short backpacking trips and also for 2 ten day treks in the alps and dolomites. A 35 to 40 liter pack would have worked but it was easy to collapse the top. Then when traveling again I was able to expand the pack to its full 70 L volume to accommodate my day pack with extra gear. Got… read more rained on many days and nothing got wet. I missed having a brain at first but just bought a light zip stuff sack and dropped it inside. Items were just as accessible and organized as with a brain. Also took me a while to realize I didn't have to mess with velco, rolling and clipping the top - just folding it over and clipping the outer strap is sufficient, even in rain. I have climbed with it and it conforms and moves well. I have not carried a heavy load - maybe 30 lb max so far.
