Quality kids' mitten

My sister has always been dealing with cold hands on our ski trips, that is until we got her these mittens. They keep her hands nice and toasty (and dry) so she can enjoy the slopes. She weighs about 100 lbs and has small hands so the size 7's are a bit large for her. The removable liners are great for the warm, bluebird days.

Happy Warm Hands

These mittens are the real deal. My daughter cannot keep her hands warm on the hill, with these bad boys her mitts are toasty and warm all day long. Plus, they have a great design, are durable and will last long enough to be a good "hand me down" to my younger son.

Perfect for small hands

Bought the size 3 mitten for our six year old. There is still room to grow. These mittens keep his hands warm but are flexible enough that he can still hold ski poles. Love the wrist straps as well!

Happy Hands

Just bought these for my 3 1/2 year old. She has little hands so size 4 works well. They are easy to get on, water resistant, and I really like the clip.

Hestra Jr Mitt end of season

These holes were described by the Hestra rep as "normal wear and tear" and did not qualify for repair or replacement under their warrantee. My son skied 60 days in them this year. The leather is thinner than the adult gloves which I have for myself and have not had similar issues with. Perhaps that is for flexibility for small hands but it does affect durability. Other read more than this and that the leather palms often were soaking wet (even after reapplying the cream that comes with them), they are excellent mitts.

Excellent gloves for little hands

Overall Hestra's kid gloves are great. They are warm, they fit well, and they are comfy. If you're taking a child up on the mountain then you should really consider buying these gloves Value Few things make my kiddo want to leave the mountain as much as cold hands. These gloves have been great in keeping her warm and complaint free (at least when it comes to the cold). Quality read more Well built and durable. Hestra makes quality kids ski clothing. Comfort Very comfortable according to what I've seen from my daughter. She's pretty picky when it comes to clothes (if anything scratches I'll never hear the end of it) and I've never heard her complain once about these gloves.

Best mittens for winter skiing and fun

from my son: I am 12 years old and I think these gloves are great. Pros: nice wristbands, durable, cool colors, stay on your hands well, keeps your hands dry, grips things well, hands stay warm Cons: hard to make snowballs. These are the best mittens I have ever had!

Pricey but Good

They are obviously very expensive for children's mittens. Fortunately, you get what you pay for with these. They are warm, very well constructed and stay in place all day. My five year old loves them. The sizing chart was a good tool to determine fit.

Great Gloves

Spendy...but hands down best gloves for my 5 year old who skis 3 days a week all season. Have tried many other options and wish we had just gone with these from the start. The key piece is the big gauntlet that he can easily get on over his jacket cuff. He always needed hand warmer packs and since using these that has not been necessary. I need a pair!

Unique option in kids mittens

These are (one of?) the only kids mittens with a removable liner. In addditon, they only have one layer of fabric in the shell. Most have a waterproof insert in between the shell and the lining. The net result is that these are not super waterproof, BUT, they breath much better, and you can take the liners out at lunch and dry them. This means that on a cold day, you child will read more have warm, dry mittens (=warm, dry hands) in the afternoon too, not just in the morning. NOTE: these are not quite as thick as the adult mittens. Add to this the same great cut and features of the adult Heli Mitts: -Best in class cuff: not to long, no short, easy to cinch. -Best ever wrist leashes, super comfy and secure, in a kids specific size -Durable leather palm and finger tips

Warm hands = Happy kids!

Hestra makes the best gloves for kids, period! Soft, removable, washable fleece liner makes these easy to keep clean. Shell keeps hands dry while playing in the snow or skiing. Wrist strap keeps them from being dropped off the lifts or falling in the snow when they pull them off their hands. Room for hand warmers as well. Best investment and payoff for happy kids and warm hands. read more

Warm kids are happy kids

Warm kids are happy kids and every parent knows that. That's why these are the best mitts for children. A Gore-Tex shell insures that their little hands stay dry, and with a removable liner for insulation you can keep their hands warm. Since the liner is removable you are able to wash it which is great for kids. I'd recommend these to anyone who needs the best mitt that is read more durable and will keep your little one's hands toasty!

THE BEST GLOVES / MITTENS FOR KIDS

We have 4 kids and spend ~50 days on the mountain each year. We tried other gloves in an effort to avoid the expense of these gloves times 4. Ultimately we bit the bullet and got these. After we did it we regretted waiting so long. Our kids no longer complain about cold fingers, not matter the conditions. Their hands stay warm and dry all day. And the removable liner is awesome read more for drying quickly. We treat the leather about twice a year.

Best Gloves Available

One of the best gloves available - well made, warm, and durable. They're expensive but worth it. We have not had issues with them getting wet and have used them for all day/weekend ski trips. We own several pairs that are handed down through our 4 children. Highly recommended. I purchased the mittens for the smaller kids, envisioning their little fingers getting cold, while our read more older children have the Hestra Heli Ski Junior GLOVES. I’ve noticed on occasion they get frustrated with the lack of fingers, I would recommend going with the gloves. They’re both so well made, their hands will be equally warm.

These Mitts Rock

Short Story: crazy warm, high quality, awesome features, cool colors, you won't regret it Details: Bought these in pink for my 8 yr old last season & she loves them. To be honest, I'm totally jealous ... I need my own pair ... soon. She loves that the insides are insanely comfy & warm. I love the carabiner clip, wrist leashes, gauntlets & top notch construction. Seriously, it's read more awesome to NOT have to hold her mitts on the lift while we adjust gear, & the gauntlets make it easy to keep out the snow. No more taking off my gloves in the freezing cold to pull her jacket sleeves over her gloves every 15 minutes. (frankly, that always bothered me way more than her, but at least I'm not doing it now) As for style, she's cautious about looking TOO girly & loves these bc they're cute but rugged looking. I've compared them to the adult Heli's in store & they're obviously the same top quality. These things rock. After 1 season, they barely show any wear. If you're skiing in the rain, maybe the goat leather isn't the most waterproof protection on the market, but I rarely ski in the rain & especially not w the kid. They've been rock solid & plenty waterproof when we've been in wet snow/spring conditions & dried pretty quickly. These aren't made for snowball fights in wet snow, they're made to keep you warm in nasty alpine conditions. Why would you send the kids outside to play in mitts anyway? Get a cheap pair of synthetic waterproof gloves for that, then pack them in your gear bag as back-up. Buy these mitts so your kids' cold hands don't ruin your (& their) expensive ski trip. Plus, I bought them a little big, so I expect a couple more seasons & (since they're the gold standard) I bet I can then sell them for $50 to put towards a new pair. In the long run, I doubt they'll actually cost much more than the mediocre, practically disposable gloves I used to buy. Get these & never worry about their hands again. Yes, they're expensive, but I never have to go in early bc my kid's hands are cold ... so I've got that going for me ... which is nice. (does she look excited to be at the Okemo summit for the 1st time??)

Kiddo's favorite pow mitt.

Having a pow-hungry 9 y/o who constantly pesters us to charge bigger lines and can't get A/T bindings fast enough... these gloves satisfy her needs day in and out. Even when it's below zero and the fresh is chin deep... her hands stay dry-n-toasty. Worth the cash!

Does anyone know whether the kids version (Item # HES0158) of these mittens is of the same quality as the women's mittens (Item # HES0091)? Sometimes kids' versions of items have less insulation/are of lesser quality than the adult version...Thank you!
