February 8, 2019Works great!
I have 2 of these and they served me well ranging from cold weather cycling to snowboarding. It feels comfortable against the skin and really wicks away moisture - all throughout my snowboarding trip I didn't get sweaty nor did I feel like I needed any extra layers (LIFA + mid weight fleece mid layer + Burton Radial Gore-Tex jacket). Sizing wise it's what I would call a performance… read more or slim fit - small fits me fine, it's just that I'm on the chubby side of things. If you have a more slender/athletic build (but not too muscular) than I, it should fit true to size. Besides, a wicking layers needs to fit a bit tighter to work, right?

December 10, 2018More of a midriff baring shirt
At 6'2", ~198lbs, ~37" waist, I would seem from the sizing chart to fall entirely smack in the middle of the Large size. So I thought I was safe ordering Large but it was way too small and only came down barely to the top of my pants so anytime I breathed it showed my midriff....not exactly the style I was going for.

May 27, 2018Great Base Layer
This is a great base layer. It keeps you warm while wicking away the moisture. The shirt does run small though. I initially ordered a large and had to return it for an XL. The shirt does have an athletic fit and that fits me perfectly because I am muscular and lean. Overall, this shirt rivals the Patagonia base layers I have and it is only half the price.

March 8, 2018Runs small
Really, really small. It fits like a men's medium. So, order 2 sizes up.

November 27, 2017Comfy
This is a very comfortable under garment. Some have bulky seams, or are really tight and uncomfortable. This is a slim fit, but not a TIGHT fit, and comfortable against the skin. Have not tested it in a wide range of temps yet.

November 1, 2017Incredible Wicking!
I got this base layer for backpacking the Pemi loop in NH this October and I am so glad I did. I was amazed at how well this wicks sweat away from your skin. I remember at one point on the way up Mt. Lafayette I was dripping sweat from my forehead and when I touched my shirt it was barely damp. Its also very comfortable. Can't wait to wear it snowboarding this winter!

October 8, 2017Cant wait to use this for skiing
This seems like a great base layer for skiing. I cant wait to break it out and see how it holds up on the slopes. Im 5-7 and the medium fits me perfectly. This shirt is very comfortable and the stitching doesn't cause any irritation.

May 31, 2017A Staple Piece
This is one of my go-to pieces of clothing since it has such a wide range of uses and the mix of insulation to breath-ability is incredible. I can wear this as a baselayer under my warmer cloths and it breaths perfectly, but can also be used as a stand alone piece when it starts to get warm and still keep in the heat. The fit on this is great as well with it being athletic and on… read more the tighter side of things. Over-all this has to be one the best base layers I have.

January 12, 2017My Fave
This is my go-to for skiing. I like the snug yet stretchy fit. It's pretty long, which is great because stays tucked into my bottoms. Like others have mentioned, it does run small. For most casual shirts, I wear a L. I've got this in an XL and it fits perfectly.

January 5, 2017Keeps you dry
I have a couple of these, and have bought them as gifts for the family. It's well made, lightweight and extremely breathable. The Medium fits me perfectly and makes a great layering piece.

December 28, 2016Hard to beat the classics
This Helly Hansen stripe crew top has been a staple in skiers closets for years, and it's no wonder; it works well, is comfortable, and a completely functional piece while looking good. I bought one for my dad for Christmas to add to his layering pieces for skiing, and he's loving it so far. As others have mentioned, it does run a touch small, which may be what you're looking… read more for from a layering piece, but if you're not looking for the next-to-the-skin style fit, size up.

November 29, 2016What a Layer
Great for wearing as a ski layer! So warm and fits tightly. Wear this every time I ski under my jacket. Also functions as a running shirt!

November 19, 2015Use it anywhere
From Autumn trail running, to ski touring, to skiing on the mountain this top breathes well and does it all. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great base layer. I would not say it works for well indoor workouts. But outside (which is where we want to be!) it is great! I went with a Medium and it is fine. Probably could have gone with a small too for a more snug… read more fit.

October 3, 2015Keeps Ya Warm & Looks Cool
This thing keeps you warm. It's tight fitting and makes you look slender. That's my favorite part. After a ski day, you can take off your jackets, strip down to just this crew top and know you look good! You can cruise the bar, grab some food, get weird at Apres ski and know you're looking good. This is the real point of a base layer, people. To look good in the bar apres… read more ski, am I wrong? Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's also warm and wicking and great for skiing and I've worn everyday this season. Even more important that all above: it's comfy. Base layers that itch or bunch = no bueno. This piece feels like a part of me and I don't even notice it's on.

October 1, 2015Classic
I use this base layer most often in the spring for ski mountaineering. Usually in the spring it isn't quite as cold. I also use it for summertime adventures in the mountains. Works great as the extra shirt for warmth on a night of backpacking. When the weather is a lot colder I usually wear the "Warm Ice" version of this shirt that has a marino wool blend, but this is perfect… read more for when it is cold-to-cool out. HH has been making this shirt for years and has steadily improved the wicking properties of the fabric/weave. -Joel Bettner, HH Ambassador

April 8, 2015What happened to HH?
I used to love this brand. LOVE. 3 winter jackets by them. I have sweaters, cargos, shirts,.....etc. I ordered and XXL. It was more like a large. It's laughable how small it was. Why are we redefining sizes? The initial feel and look are ok but I will never buy this brand again. They are turning into a somewhat lazy/cheesy brand. Sorry to say that but they are no where… read more near where they used to be. I can't size up. I'm skinny. A triple X is like a circus tent, but HH would be more like a large anyways. Too many other brands putting out high quailty gear. PS. They worst zippers in the industry.

January 22, 2015Runs short...
I like this base layer but it runs short!! I did end up buying the next size up. So I did put my money where my mouth is. Happy with the lager size.

April 6, 2014Sweet Baselayer!
I just spent two weeks skiing in the Italian Alps with this shirt and it did a job for me. This was a terrific baselayer that kept me warm and dry in most conditions I faced. Even when I got sweaty during high-output skiing off-piste at Courmayeur I dried out very quickly. I never smelled bad or stayed damp coming off the hill at the end of the day. The seams never chafed, and… read more the shirt still looks new after a couple washes. Personally, I prefer this type of thinner base layer with a medium to high-loft mid-layer and shell. I don't like thicker base layers next to my skin. I am 5'7", 180, mostly muscle, and the medium fits me like a glove. Note that I have the prior model with the huge HH logo on the chest. I like the looks better, but it does interfere a bit with breathability.

March 19, 2014The stripe is right!
I have used the HH dry stripe crew top extensively during snowboard season, as well as into the early spring on early morning commutes and during cooler riding temps. The material is very lightweight and breathable, while still keeping you warm and dry thanks to the construction and Lifa blend, which draw s moisture from the body then wicks it to the next layer. On the mountain,… read more the stripe crew keeps me warm and comfortable on the lift, then wicks away moisture to keep wind chill away on the ride down trail. On the road/trail, the crew top helps to quickly warm up as I start my ride, and keeps me well ventilated and cool once I start to work up a sweat and start to push out more heat, the striped sleeves are also a very helpful feature, as I can wear this piece by itself once the Salt Lake valley warms up and sheds its frigid morning temps and know that I am that much more visible thanks to the striped sleeve. I am very tall (6'6) and about 220 and the XL size works very well for me, it is a slimmer cut for a closer to skin fit. I have had this piece for over a year and it is still working excellently as both a first chair charging high performance ski/snowboard base layer and as a visible and versatile first layer I utilize while spinning wheels in the city and I would very highly recommend it for someone seeking a high performance base layer that has the ability to be used during a variety of conditions and sports.

January 12, 2014The Classic!
This is the base layer I remember seeing on all my skiing heroes growing up, so naturally I associated it with being awesome. I figure, if you're wearing the striped Lifa top, you're gonna kick butt, right? I guess it doesn't magically bestow victory but it's nonetheless a staple of my apparel drawer. The Lifa fabric does a great job of keeping me warm even when I'm sweating,… read more and as such I am comfortable wearing it three seasons of the year across running, xc skiing, biking, and more. If there's something I would improve, it's that the Lifa material tends to hold smell pretty firmly. That being said, I just make sure to wash the top each time I wear it, not letting it sit around and fester very long, and that keeps the stank to a minimum.
