Collecting dust in the garage

I was really excited to get this pressure cooker as I love cooking this way. First time I used it, the food was burnt. I tried it in my kitchen instead of over a camp fire and could not get the desired results. Sigh. I wish it would whistle instead of rock as that would give me a better idea of what's going on inside. I may dust it off and try again someday, but most likely this read more will end up in a garage sale or getting thrown out.

Tested out twice

I tested this out twice. The first time I was a little anxious about turning up the heat. I also didn't have the knob on top properly situated so all the water evaporated and the food got burnt. The second time, the knob was in place and I cranked up the heat to high. I watched the knob rock gently for a few minutes with a beef stew that I'd browned in oil before along with enough read more water to cover it before setting the lid on tight. I should have given it more than 5 minutes as the meat wasn't completely tender. 10 minutes might have worked better. Make sure you read the instruction before using and you'll have a one pot meal in much less time than you thought. Ultimately, it's reasonably well made for the price and will do the job for one or two people. I have a bigger one in my kitchen for more people that is much more robust and whistles when the pressure reaches its peak. I prefer that as you can set your cooking time by how many whistles you get. I'm sure I'll dial this cooker in with more use.

Faster food and Simple to use

I haven't used or even seen a pressure cooker since I was at my grandma's house decades ago.. but this little guy is great for cooking foods in minutes rather than hours. So far I love it for beans, vegetables and rice. I've only used this in my kitchen at home but this would also be super handy with a propane grill while glamping. Simple to use and I haven't burned anything yet! read more The small size is perfect for 1-2 people.
