Gore Wear C7 Gore-Tex Shakedry Jacket - Men's reviews and deals for sale
Your training doesn't quit when the weather goes south, and neither should your jacket. The Gore Wear C7 Gore-Tex Shakedry Jacket for Men is unrelenting, with complete water and wind protection for the harshest days, and minimal weight, so you can charge out of the garage and onto the pavement like it's race day on evenings that would have most of your friends resorting to tedious miles on the trainer in a dimly lit basement. This jacket not only performs above and beyond that of the normal rain shell, but packs down into a minuscule size, stash-able in your jersey back pocket for when the clouds clear, but it does so without costing you weight, with super lightweight construction that scales in at only 107-grams in size Large.
To keep you operating like a machine, the C7 Shakedry Jacket works with innovative membrane technology that skips out on an outer face fabric, and meets the elements head on with a Gore-Tex laminate that slices through headwinds, and prevents water from penetrating within. This membrane-first construction means that there's no fabric to hold even the least bit of water before it rolls off, or to add weight, resulting in a lighter jacket, and more water repellency. As the name would have you guessing, a simple rustle will get the water shedding off of you and onto the ground. To back the membrane, Gore uses an incredibly thin and lightweight polyamide inner shell, giving the membrane something to hold onto without adding bulk. The construction, while resilient to water and wind, is not fond of hydration bags and backpacks, as it doesn't have a face fabric to take the stress off of the membrane, so keep this in mind if you're planning a ride into the mountains, or skipping your water bottles that day.
The C7 Shakedry Jacket is cut slim, tailored for a cycling position, and contours to your body so there is little room for excess fabric flapping in the wind, and just enough space for a thermal jersey and base layer underneath. This exceptional fit is ideal for training and race day alike, as it won't add much resistance to your efforts, allowing you to capitalize on your watts, instead of catching wind like a sail. It features fine tuned, but minimalist detailing, with a high collar that is cut to sit comfortably against your neck and keep out the elements, and a full-length zipper with lockable pull for dialing in your ventilation if the day brings both wet and warm weather. Its hem is reinforced, and backed with elastic, so it sits snug against your waist and won't move when you're out of the saddle hammering up a climb, and features a drop tail in the back to keep you covered from wheel spray and rain.

August 14, 2020On the fence...
I haven't tested this outside in the elements yet and I'm not certain it's a keeper...Positives are the shakedry fabric that everyone raves about. And it fits my 5' 10 ", 180 lb long-armed frame to perfection...I also haven't experienced any of the zipper issues that some of the other reviewers commented on...On the downside while very lightweight it doesn't pack as small as I thought… read more it would...I also own the Sportful No Rain Ultralight jacket and it packs down equal if not smaller in size at a fraction of the price. Also the lettering on the C7 shakedry doesn't appear to be reflective which combined with the dark fabric makes for a hard to see appearance under rain darkened skies. Finally, while I briefly mentioned the price above I still trying to decide if the over $200 expense is justified. In other words, does this item become one of the indespensible items in what I consider the cycling kit Hall of Fame ( ie... Fuguhelm hat, Fugujack or Alpha Ros winter jackets ), or an item that is nice to have but whose use of funds could have been better applied elsewhere...

July 30, 2020Great jacket but weird fit.
I like this jacket a lot but am forced to return it because of the extremely short cut in the torso. I am 5'11", 148 lbs and ordered a medium. I generally wear medium in all jerseys and jackets. The shoulders, chest, and sleeve length on this jacket were perfect, a nice slim fit so no flapping excess material. However, it is cut so short that the bottom front of the jacket leaves… read more 3" or 4" of my jersey showing! It literally only comes down to my belly button level. The back is cut ok, long enough to protect your rear end from wheel spray, but the front is ridiculously short. Now, if I reorder a Large to get the length right, I'm afraid it will be too large in the shoulders and arms so that I do down the road flapping like a giant sail. I wonder if all the other Gore Tex jackets are tailored like this? Update: I returned this item and ordered the Gore Tex C5 Shakedry jacket. I have not used it yet, but the Medium size fits me perfectly, unlike the C7 jacket. The C5 jacket is not short in the torso like the C7. I think I'm going to like the C5 just fine.

March 15, 2020Best raining jacket!
I'm in love with this jacket, it's light, foldable and it does keep you dry, even with torrential rain. On a ride everything else was wet, but my torso was warm and dry (still moisture from the sweat, which is okay). I got a medium (152lbs, 5'9''), but I could have probably gone with the small.

June 18, 2019Amazingly light
Great piece of kit albeit expensive. So light it's a no brainer to take it whenever it threatens to rain. The left pocket is very small, so a larger phone won't fit. I would have gotten the more reflective version but that was even more expensive still. Fit is excellent. I'm a skinny 5'7", 138lbs and I ordered small. Form fitting with very little excess fabric.

March 3, 2019What's up with the Zipper?
Bought this in October of '18. Performance was great...blocks out cold wind, waterproof and somewhat breathable. Four months of use and the darn zipper becomes progressively more difficult to use. The bottom portion began splitting and unzipping. Who has the time or desire to stop pedaling and rezip to block out the cold over and over again. Jeez, what an expensive jacket… read more to have such a poor zipper. I contacted customer support and never received a response. I made my own repairs at the risk of completely destroying the tiny zipper. Thanks for the non help Backcountry.com , I will seek business elsewhere. Cyclist

October 6, 2018Stay dry in the wettest conditions.
I tested out this product in the TROMP Gore-tex event. I wore this along with the Gore Wear C3 Gore-tex active pants and the Gore Wear C3 overshoes product. I wore a size Large, it fit me well. I am 6'0 175 pounds. I was on a stationary bike with a shower faucet dumping water on me for 30 seconds straight. It was an athletic contest who could pedal the farthest distance on the… read more stationary bike in 30 seconds. I was pedaling as hard and fast as I could. It was easy for me to move around comfortably with the product. All of my clothes underneath the jacket and pants were completely dry after the 30 seconds of getting pounded by water. It was pretty incredible. It is completely waterproof. It is a perfect jacket for hiking, trail running, and biking. I am planning on getting one of these for my future adventures.

September 28, 2018Expensive price, cheaply made
This is a total ripoff for $279. Cheap zippers always get stuck - ALWAYS - making it hard or impossible to open or close them while moving. And they're placed in confusing / out of the way places. I can't open the vent zippers under the armpits without stopping, and even while stopped it's much easier to just take the jacket off than it is to sit there and wrestle with the darn… read more things, The zipper for the pocket you might put a phone in on the left chest - that zipper is right next to the zipper that opens the jacket. I haven't yet found the zipper pull for the jacket opening on the first try. Don't buy this

July 1, 2018good fit, keeps you dry
At about 5'7" (170cm) and 130+/- lbs (60 kg) I ordered this jacket in medium based on the recommendation to size up. It fits well...close-fitting and no flapping but not skin tight. I might have been able to fit into the small but my arms are longer than normal for my height so medium works in that regard. If I were buying the stretch version I would try a small first and exchange… read more if it was too tight. I also expect the medium to be more flexible in cooler weather when I've got more layers under it. I've used it only once in the rain and it performs as advertised. Visually it's a very nice-looking jacket.
