Fully charged with green light using USB. Turn it on and in 30 seconds after turning on bright and beautiful - it turns off. Press the on switch again - repeat. Called Goal Zero, told me that I have to work thru Backcountry for the return. Problem could be that the product was on the shelf for more than 3 months without a charge and the battery was damaged, really??… read more Great concept and like the package. Terribly executed.

November 9, 2020Absolutely love it!
Love this thing. On trips is perfect to stash in the side of a pack. Charges during the day and give off plenty of light for a camp trip. I usually hang it on my hammock big net, gives me a nice little reading light at night. My kid also loves to play with it, works great because we aren't worried about him leaving it on.

October 21, 2020Bright compact design
Super simple compact design that is surprisingly very bright. First impressions are great light for the price.

This is a great addition to your camping box! Super easy to charge, use and hang just about anywhere! It has a great light radius, and though the charge does not last as long as I would have liked. I'm sure that's something that will improve in the future.

September 16, 2019Great!
Took this on a recent backpacking trip to the grand and was very happy with it's performance. I hung this on my pack and even with some cloud coverage, it charged enough to put out some decent light. I never had a full day of good sun to give it the best charge, but if I was happy with what I got, I'd only be happier with more. These also pack flat and are easily hung. Im looking… read more forward to taking them on longer trips

August 20, 2019Love this thing
This is my favorite solar light out there. Collapsible and durable, it stuffs into your pack without taking up much space at all, or you can clip it to the outside to charge on the go.

August 14, 2019So perfect!
Collapsible lighting is the COOLEST. This has a few light settings along with a solar and USB charging option. I did notice the lights didn't last more than one evening. But for the size and spec, these are awesome.

July 22, 2019Perfect backpacking lantern
I took a couple of these on a recent backpacking trip in northern New Mexico and was so pleased with their quality and light output (while not as strong as most, it gets the job done). I hung one from a tree above our cooking site and another in the tent. With a carabiner you can hang them from anything. I even set one up balanced on my tent pole. They are very lightweight, have… read more three settings for brightness, and all you have to do is leave them in the sun to charge. They fold down flat so they are easy to store.

June 20, 2019Super Compact
This folds flat and weights next to nothing. It is super easy to stow in the backpack or use car camping. The one downer is that is not super bright, but for the size and weight it is great.

May 13, 2019Space Saver
I agree with the other reviews- not the brightest light, but it gets the job done! My favorite feature is how flat it packs down to- great if you are running low on space in your bag. It's also brilliant that you can charge it during the day so you don't have to worry about bringing extra batteries!

May 13, 2019just okay
Overall a great addition to any camp kit. It charged fast and stayed lit all night. I didn't find it to be as bright as some similar lights I have tested. I also don't think it would float(didnt try) and it was a bit heavier(but probably more durable) than others as well.

May 13, 2019Neat little light
It charges in the day so you can play at night. I like this light. It's fairly lightweight and easy to carry around while backpacking or car camping and it 'crush'es down flat for saving space. It's not the brightest of lights, but does the trick!

Lightweight and solar powered. What more could you ask for? Pretty excited to use this for camping this upcoming season.

April 1, 2019Great travel light
This light is great for camping, fire pit nights, etc. It folds down completely flat, and I love that it can charge via USB and solar. The light is bright enough to be able to see a lot but not so bright that it's obnoxious at camp.

December 17, 2018Powerful little lantern!
I recently used this lantern on an overnight trip, and took this little guy along! With its accordion-style feature, it packs down so small, and at 3oz, I hardly noticed it at all. For the weight and price, this is the best lantern I've used. It lit up my whole tent, allowing me to read without a headlamp. I also carried it for a few miles while walking, and the handle is really… read more easy to flip up and use. It provided a lot of local light while walking, enough to walk in the dark without a headlamp. Would recommend for about 2-3 hours of use.

November 28, 2018Glad I got 2!
I car camp pretty much every weekend, and got really tired of setting up camp, cooking, and hanging out by headlamp. I read a bunch of reviews on these and took the leap. So happy I did! I absolutely love how thin these collapse and one hung from the truck offers plenty of light to cook and hang out by. Two makes it even better! I've recharged them witth the micro USB, and I'm… read more curious to see how well they recharge with the little solar panels on top.

October 4, 2018The Thing You Didn't Know You Needed!
I love this light, It is so soft and crushable that you are not afraid of breaking it like other plastic lanterns that I have had. It to me is just as bright as a headlamp and is perfect because you can hang it in really creative places. I use this thing everywhere! Around the house, camping, backpacking, late night climbing and I even keep it in my car for when I need a night-time… read more light. I love how you can charge it so it is really easy to charge in your car if you need to or just put it out in the sun and let the little solar panel on the top do its job! It also has a super cute flicker mode so it looks like candle flickers when you are cuddling your SO in the tent!

September 25, 2018All Time Product!
Goal Zero did a great job with this one! It is super compact and light allowing you to take it everywhere and hang it anywhere. I originally picked it up for a multi day camping trip. I would hang it from small tree limbs to act as a kitchen, dining, or for a late night restroom light. The solar panel is great! I charged it before leaving for the trip and then I would hang it from… read more my pack during the day and even though I used it late into the night, it never once dimmed over the 7 day trip. This lantern is now one of my favorite pieces of gear and is now part of the first aid kit I keep in my vehicle and on my in the backcountry.

September 17, 2018Stellar little light!
Stellar little light! This little light from Goal Zero knocked my expectations out of the park on my most recent camping trip! Here are the pros and cons I found out about this lamp on this most recent trip with it to Lake Silver in American Fork Canyon, UT. Pros The lamp is tiny! Crushed down it takes up 1/4 of the space of a normal lantern, making it perfect for backpacking… read more in the mountains. I can't even remember if I charged this lamp before bringing it out on the trail, but that doesn't even matter because this thing holds it charge! Using it for 3-4 hours on its high setting, the lamp never wavered or dimmed but kept on shinning! The included solar panel on top ensures you can get some light during your darkest night even while days into a backpacking trip with no sight on civilization for days more. The included foldable top ring make it perfect for hanging of your tent, stringing up from a tree, or attaching to your hip! It doesn't come with an included carabiner, but luckily I had an extra one laying around. Did I mention the lamp is lightweight too! It added no weight to my pack while providing me with a much-needed comfort during the cold night. Several lighting modes on the lantern gave me the flexibility to provide some dim light while getting ready to nap under the stars, while the bright light helped me out while trying to get my stove to work just after sunset. And the candlelight option is cool looking too! A nice addition. Cons This con could've been easily remedied if I had brought along the user's manual or just known how to use the lamp before I was in the middle of nowhere, but the lamp was stuck in some sort of demo mode and I didn't know how to get it out! I was stuck for a good 15-20 minutes pressing the one button on the lamp trying to figure out how to get the lamp to stay on! After finally figuring out hold that power button for 15ish seconds, the lamp switched back to its normal mode, allowing me to easily switch between the different light settings without it cycling thru and shutting off a couple seconds later. I don't remember the light starting in that mode by default when I first received the lamp, but who knows! The lamp isn't the brightest in the world. It was perfect for my short solo backpacking trip, but I imagine anything larger than that with multiple people, the lamp would fall short and not be able to light up all our surroundings. All in all, this lamp kicks some serious butt! It's been added to my go-to backpacking equipment, and I will seldom be found without it! Whether it's a cold trip back to Silver Lake in the Wasatch, or down south to Moab for me next, this lamp will help me light the way!
