Giro Solara II Cycling Shoe - Women's reviews and deals for sale

Pro-level shoes aren't always practical, especially if you take part in multiple disciplines or are just getting into cycling. Or maybe, like many of us, you're more interested in kit that just works rather than the Latest & Greatestâ„¢. Giro understands this, so it took features from its high-end models and adapted them to a shoe that won't take up your entire budget for the season just because some pro with a funny haircut and lively social media account wears it, too.

Giro constructs the shoes with a smooth, vented microfiber upper for a contoured fit around your foot. The Solara II features welded and bonded uppers that limit the number of traditionally sewn seams to reduce the likelihood of hot spots and blisters. While some entry-level cycling shoes receive little to no midsole treatment, Giro adds a molded EVA footbed to the Solara IIs to provide efficiency-improving arch support throughout your pedal stroke.

The footbed is treated with an Aegis antimicrobial coating to keep it smelling fresh, while a DuPont Zytel nylon outsole provides reliable power transfer from your legs to the pedals. When you're getting ready to ride, take advantage of the option to fine-tune the fit of the shoes at three points across the top of your foot to avoid numbness and hot spots. Giro includes two hook-and-loop straps across the instep and a micro-adjustable N-1 ratcheting buckle at the top.

2 pairs: 1 too small + 1 too large

I wear size 39 in my Sidi Genius, but after reading reviews that this runs small I bought a 39.5 in the white color and 40 in the black. The 39.5 (white) was a half size too small and the 40 (black) was a half size too large? Baffling. (ps - US shoe size is 7.5/8)

Discolored shoes

The shoes that arrived were discolored and looked dirty. I will be sending these back immediately.

uncomfortable!

I bought these as an extra indoor cycling shoe. I have never "noticed" my shoes in the last 25 years of cycling. These have to be the most uncomfortable shoes ever!! My feet are so sore after each time I have worn them, and then go numb during. The base is way too mobile as well. In addition, run super small. I usually wear a 40.5 and had to get a 42.5 . I would return read more but I threw away all the packaging, because I have never returned a pair of athletic shoes before

Solid!

This is an ideal shoe for a serious-but-not-insane cyclist. The nylon sole is stiff, but not professional-level. The closure system is tried and trusted tech by now. My wife says she would recommend these to any friend who's riding 50-125 miles a week.

great shoes

I'm just getting into cycling and so far these shoes are great. I read other reviews that said to order up a couple sizes which is true. I wear an 8/8.5 and the size 41 shoes fit perfect. The ratcheting buckle is nice for finding a good secure fit, much better than the all-velcro strap shoes that are a little cheaper. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.

Fit is on, great shoe overall

You could definitely spend more money and get a fancier shoe with a carbon sole and maybe a more high tec fit system. That being said, these are a great shoe for someone starting out or someone who doesn't want to spend a few hundred dollars on a pair of road shoes. So far my sister I got them for has been very pleased.
