Do it All In Style!

I find myself wearing these bibs every day. From the mountain to the supermarket. Any winter activity I find myself looking at my bibs in my closet and deciding "All just put those on" With the easily accessible and large storage of the front pockets I am able to keep my phone, wallet, keys, and snacks all organized for a day on the resort or a day in the backcountry. The Smythe read more bibs provide exceptional weather protection while still remaining breathable on those hot touring days. The bibs do have two large side vents both equipped with two zippers for full adjustability of venting. The fabric is light with a slight stretch to it. I have put two holes in the bibs one on the side of the garment from a snag on a crock wall while shooting a couloir, the other on the front bib pocket. Surprisingly this fabric does not seem like the holes want to rip to become larger, still feel very solid. It is hard to try an alternative when these are so solid!

Bibs for the win!

As much as I have dug several styles of pants in the FlyLow line over the past few years, after my first season with the Smyth Bib I'm never going back. Pretty much what I have been looking for in balance between comfort, flexibility, and warmth for ski touring. Fluid on the skin track, which is a must, but also protective on the down. I like that they are of a thinner cut, and read more found if it's super, super cold, the next step up in beefy factor (Baker Bibs) was welcome. But 90% of days in the backcountry these are my new go-to, no question.

Great All-rounder

The Smythe bib has been great. I really like the pocket layout, keeping the bib part of the pant slow profile and slim. The entire pant is very light and mobile and the ample leg venting has made this a great all round winter pant!

All-around winner, for ladies too

These are my first bibs in about 20 years because all I could remember is how they made me sweat. But I needed new pants and realized that materials have changed over the years and I really would benefit from a bib for all those powder days. So I searched high and low for a versatile bib that I could wear both inbounds and in the backcountry in the Sierras. I heat up fast so it read more would have to be super breathable but also waterproof for those storm days. Fit is an issue for me: female and curvy, big thighs and narrow waist. It’s hard to find high performance that fits. I tried a bunch of different models and I ended up falling in love with the Smythes. The fabric is windproof yet lightweight and breathable. I just wore them on a hot 60° spring day and felt completely comfy. The material is stretchy and thin (in a good way). I have only skied in them a few days so I have yet to test their durability. The pockets are in the right places and it’s easy to do a bathroom break.. As for fit: the legs are roomy. It’s tailored in the body which is great for me, but might be challenging for anyone with a gut. The straps are a tad long so I might get them altered to give me more adjustment. I wish it came in black, but I appreciate the subtle color options. Overall I’m thrilled with the purchase.

Never going back to standard pants

These rocked even on a hot, spring day, but I would for sure trust them even in a cold winter with some insulation. I was kind of surprised , but I used the Medium. I would normally have expected fitting in the large but Medium was just about perfect. It was a cozy comfortable fit that really worked for me. I loved all the different pockets, specifically this particular one on the read more left side of the chest. I have always hated putting my wallet in my pants pocket for fear of losing it or falling on it over and over. The buckles are easy to use and super elastic and I didn't have any issues with them unclipping over a day of hard riding. The material feels sturdy and is nice to the touch! These are an awesome addition to any set up.

Stretchy, comfy, and AWESOME!!

I used these bibs a couple times, and they exceeded my expectations! Covered all the bases of what I look for in a bib pant, and kept me incredibly warm throughout the day!

Ideal bibs

These are so nice. The fabric feels pretty durable but slightly stretchy and I did not get too warm or too cold in them at all with a nice baselayer. Pockets are in all the right places and it's nice that it comes up so far on the chest. I got a Large which fit very relaxed, but could've gotten a medium no problem.

Love These!

The side zippers make getting in and out a breeze for dawn patrol, and the zippers on the chest help keep all your essentials close by. The stretch fabric at the bottom of the suspenders are fantastic as well! Durable and uber water resistant!

The Pockets and Fit!

I thought the fit and convenience of the pockets where great and would be great for a day tour or riding the resort. I will say the fabric does seem this and as other reviews mention could be an easy tear. There are many reasons to buy this bib but Durability isn't one. I used the L which fit baggy, and I liked that.

High hopes, low results

These pants looked great on paper, and fit well with good pockets. Unfortunately they are SUPER tear-prone. I have at least 6 patches on them after maybe 15 ski days. The fabric also doesn't breathe well in the back and the zippers don't allow for venting the chest. I plan on replacing these before next season and keeping them as a backup pair of touring pants. It's really a read more shame because flylow makes such bomber gear otherwise. Don't make the same mistake I did, skip the hype and let them figure out this new fabric a bit.

Very popular, had to check the hype

Great bibs, super comfortable. Only worn a few times but I did manage to rip them by the ankle on the third use.

All Time Bibs

These are amazing. So comfortable. Skiied on them three days so far 2 touring one in-bounds. They were great for both. They are comfortable and flexible for touring and they don't get too hot. I usually wear gym shorts underneath and I was perfect on some mid 20's F days. Super waterproof, and super stylie. I am 5' 11" 170 and the Medium is more than perfect size. The green color read more is sick!

King of Bibs

If you want a tough pant that is butter soft, aerated perfectly and keeps you dry in almost every possible condition. These are the bibs for you! I've taken them on the slopes a few times in Utah and they have not let me down! A little long on me, but that is to be expected!

Fantastic do-it-all bib

I absolutely swear by bibs and this one is great! It is completely waterproof with the intuitive shell technology, and its very breatheable. More breatheable than most other bibs that I have tried! That being said, this is a clear choice for backcountry riding or skiing. While I was using it, i was doing some resort riding on various powder days and it was awesome. The one thing read more about this bib is that it has a very thin construction and since it is so breathable, it really does not trap heat very well. So on cold days or when you are resort skiing, I would recommend wearing a baselayer and an insulated pant/sweat pants or something to help keep the legs warm

New Bibs!

I am a hard-skiing Utah resident that has owned a number of bibs (and non-bib ski pants) in the past, and these Flylow Smythe Bibs are quickly becoming my go-to for both backcountry tours and resort riding in any type of weather. I got these to replace a pair of competing bibs (the brand rhymes with "curtain") that I loved through several years of hard use but unfortunately tore read more while hitting a tree. I first looked at the new model of the same pants as a replacement, but decided I wanted to try something new. I’m glad I did. The Flylow Smythe Bib is made of material that is lightweight, waterproof (even in the depths of a storm) and seems sturdy enough to handle normal amounts of bushwhacking. The fit is true to size, not too baggy, but also not restrictive or tight, and there’s plenty of room to move in all sorts of directions. I’m ~6’, 175 lbs, and was between sizes so I ordered a large and am happy I sized up, but if I wanted a slimmer fit I believe the medium would have provided that. The pockets are plentiful, deep, and well-placed, and the zippers and seams keep out wind and water. The only reason I docked a star from the review is the venting – the side-entry zipper on the left doubles as a big vent with a corresponding vent on the right leg that is much shorter. It would be nice to have a bit of a bigger right vent or even internal leg vents, but that’s a personal preference. Also, though I don’t put fashion over function in my outerwear purchases, I actually really appreciated the color options for these pants, as men’s ski clothing is often very loud and garish. Flylow’s fernet color is a nice, dark, subtle color that allows me to clandestinely disappear into the trees in search of powder stashes without drawing attention from anyone who may be looking to poach my favorite lines. If you want a solid, lightweight but sturdy pant to keep you dry and warm without looking like you’re wearing your big brother’s outerwear, the Flylow Smythe Bib is a great choice.

Why Would You Not?

These are some SOLID bibs! They stay super light while keeping you dry all day long. The insane amount of pockets (and accessibility of said pockets) are killer and super useful for whatever you may need to carry. These are more breathable than other bibs, so they kill it in the backcountry when you're working hard, but you can still rock them inbounds and even keep the zips closed read more all the way for chilly night turns if you're so inclined. I'm 6'2" and grabbed a large and they fit like a dream!

How do the Smythe Bibs fit compared to the Flylow Baker Bib? I ordered the baker and it fits uncomfortably tight above the belt, great from the belt to the knees and really baggy below the knees. Below the knees is so bad i’d rather ski in Carhartts. I’m pretty sure Flylow hired the guy who designed those JNCO jeans to design the Baker Bibs.
