October 8, 2018Commuter Bag
This bag was as expected, though more pockets would have been nice. It holds it's shape fairly well and isn't flimsy, which was my biggest concern. The bag works great as a work/laptop bag with great build quality, but perhaps a little short sided on the functionality. Though it's not a versatile as other bags on the market, I would still recommend it on the based upon quality and… read more aesthetics.

August 8, 2017Looks Good, But Not Quite There
The backpack looks really good aesthetically, but not that great for functionality. It works alright for casual/commuting purposes, but wouldn't be great for hiking. The interior is pretty small and narrow, making it hard to get things in and out like others have said. The water bottle pockets on the side will only fit tall narrow bottles in my experience, and will take up a lot… read more of room from the interior of the pack.

January 30, 2017Cute and Casual
I really like this pack for a casual around town bag and using for work. It fits my laptop perfectly and has enough organization to keep a couple of odds and ends without carrying too much. The thermos holder is unique and was a fun surprise for me! The water bottle pockets on the sides are hardly noticeable, but large enough to expand and hold a hydro flask. It can be a bit… read more of a pain to get into, but it's cool that it has that retro feel - it has real claps with metal and leather - no velco or magnets. My only real complaint about this bag is that it can get really warm on my back if I'm carrying it for a long time.

October 11, 2016Work Bag
For me, this pack will only function as something I can use to and from work here at good ol' Backcountry.com. Quality materials and very clean aesthetics made it an attractive buy for me. I can't see it being functional out hiking/trekking, but as a work/casual bag it is awesome. It fits my 15" laptop just about perfectly. I am 6'1" and do not like how short the shoulder straps… read more actually are. I almost have the leather part of the straps hitting my shoulders which is kinda weird.

September 11, 2016Needs pockets
I was hoping to take this on an international trip, but found it won't fit my needs for travel. There is only one access point to the bag at the top, which means if you need anything, you have to take the bag off, undo everything and dig around in the interior. There are no side pockets or top pockets for easy access. The inside also lacks pockets for organization and storage.… read more The fabric on the bag is fantastic, and I really wish it would work for my needs. If you need a bag that's pretty basic and looks nice, with some added durability, this would be a great choice. If you need pockets and organization, I would look elsewhere.

March 30, 2016Not what I expected
The pack is well made and looks really good but isn't as functional as I thought it would be. I was expecting a small pack but its really hard to use the main compartment. It is really narrow and hard to put things in it and get them out. Also, the plum is a lot more red than I was expecting. The next size bigger would probably be a much for functional back.

July 18, 2015Poorly conceived pack
Looked good on paper, is built with quality materials, but the design and execution is flawed. I really can't figure out what this pack is for. It's pretty small--barely enough room for a hiking day trip. If you put a bag of food in here, it's going to get crushed. Your jacket likely won't fit. The side pockets are too small to fit water bottles--if you can jam one in, it encroaches… read more on the main pack space. The outside pocket--doesn't close or latch in any way so important items are loose and may fall out. The inside of the pack is a mess--2 sleeves, an inside free flying "pocket", an additional upper hanging pocket with zipper--all nice ideas but when put together, the inside of this bag is clutterred. Combined with the draw cord closure device, it's a pain to get into and out of this bag. Would be forgiveable if there was more space, but there isn't. On the outside of the pack, superficially it looks pretty good. The leather and g1000 fabric are nice. The closure system for the 2 leather straps is awkward and doesn't feel particularly sturdy. The "hood" on top is cool but I feel like it should have a pocket on top on the outside for quick access. So to sum up, this seems like a pack that is designed to look small and sleak on a person walking around the city with just a laptop and a few papers in their bag, but would be entirely inappropriate for anything else, especially anything outdoors where you'll need a big water bottle, space to stow food/jacket, and/or need quick access to essentials. The appearance of this pack seems to suggest an outdoor use in mind, but it's kind of dishonest in that way. Still, even urban adventurers need to stow a water bottle. I just don't understand this product. It's too bad too, because the materials really are quite nice. It seems like manufacturers are rushing to put out "throwback" products that remind us of the old days when things were made out of cotten, metal and leather--which I appreciate--but for some reason no one is putting any thought into the design. Almost as if they think if they just make something that "looks vintage" that's good enough. In my mind, going back to basics means getting the basics right--a good water bottle pocket, an uncluttered spacious interior, smartly placed pockets that hold things securely, etc.

September 5, 2014well crafted
I'm a sucker for mid-century and Scandinavian design, and Fjallraven's Medium Rucksack speaks straight to that sensibility. The design is simple, well crafted, and infuses a sense of authenticity and history by maintaining elements from the first Fjallraven packs that were stitched-up over 50 years ago. The classic G-1000 waxed canvas feels exactly the way good outdoor fabric should… read more feel. It's durable, water resistant, and my favorite part is that it breaks-in and takes on more character with age.

May 6, 2015Is there any leather on the pack? Can't tell of the straps and label are. Need to know if its vegan friendly. Thanks!
