Perfect Shoe for Beginners

I tried these on at my local gym and liked them, especially for the price. I normally wear a 6.5 but had to size up to an 8. I worried I should have gotten a 7.5 since these might stretch out with time. The backcountry price was $20 less than at my gym so I’m overall very happy with my order.

Shoe's fine, Size is off.

Usually wear a 7.5 or an 8 and I fit the 9's! I don't think I will stick with the shoes too long. It's not the best fit.

Not my favorite

I wasn't a huge fan of the design/fit of this shoe, but I think it'd be a good shoe for beginners. I agree with everyone else who says you should definitely size up a little since they do run small. I personally prefer a stiffer shoe, but these would be a good shoe if you're looking for a softer, flat climbing shoe.

Info on sizing

I wear a size 7 in street shoes but the size 7 elektras are too tight on me. I also tried the ones in size 9 and those are too big in length but feel pretty ok when it comes to width. I ordered the shoes in a size 8 and 8.5 and will see from there which ones fit best.

Was really looking forward to wearing

But...they run INCREDIBLY small. I'm a beginner, so I didn't want to drop a ton of money on my first pair of shoes. I was pleasantly surprised to find that these were extremely affordable and had great reviews, especially for beginners. I wear a size 9.5 in street shoes, and I'm aware that climbing shoes are meant to fit snug. Prior to buying a pair, I have been renting the mens read more version of this shoe at my gym in a size 10 and it fits alright, a little wide but works ok for and hour or two of bouldering. After researching a pair to purchase, I settled on the elektra, went to a local store that carried them, tried them on in a 9.5 (too small) and a 10 (fit absolutely perfect, little snug but not painful) so I found them backcountry for $20 less than my local store and ordered them in a size 10. Two days later I'm excited to receive them. I slip my sockless feet in and WOW they are so small I can not even cram my foot all the way in without curling my toes under. Totally unwearable. I thought I had been sent the wrong size, that's how small they are. Nope, inside label checks out, they are indeed a size 10. So, moral of the story is, buy the shoes in person, because even after all my research and trying them on, I guess each pair they make is wildly different? Which is totally bunk but whatever. I'm a beginner and this is my first lesson learned. Backcountry is a great site though and I will return in the future for other products.

Really amazing shoes... with a catch

The catch: I would DEFINITELY recommend going to your local climbing gear shop before ordering rock climbing shoes online. And the professionals there know exactly how the shoes should fit. I ordered a size 10 after trying them on at a gear store in OC. They fit pretty snug at first but stretched way out to a very comfortable size after three wears. They have been fantastic for read more indoor bouldering! The only small drawback was breaking them in gave me some blisters, but that's expectable and totally fixable with some band-aids and tape

Sizing chart waaaaaay off

This shoe has a lot of reviews suggesting it as a great shoe for an intro climber, so I thought I would get some for my girlfriend. After buying 3 pairs, with the last pair almost 2 sizes bigger than her foot, I gave up and went with the La Sportiva Oxygym. These shoes seem pretty solid, but beware of the sizing, even 2 sizes too big and she complained of her toes rolling over to read more fit into them.
