Ergon GS1 Grip reviews and deals for sale

Ergon counts its GS series grips as its premium endurance race model. This isn't a stretch considering it's been ridden to multiple world and national championships. With a palatable price, the GS1 has a relatively simple design, the key features of which are two internal supports built into the body of the grip that promote rebound and better control during rides when hand fatigue becomes a serious concern.

The cold-forged, slender aluminum grip has a slight wing profile and is coated in Direct Control rubber that works to provide grip as well as dampen some trail chatter. We appreciate that the GS1 is also offered in two sizes to account for different hand breadths, ensuring serious racers get the ideal size when riding distances that demand precision fit. Whether you're looking for a comfortable XC racing grip or are riding marathon races, the GS1 is a valuable option to have at the ready before a ride.

Great, comfortable grip!

This is my second set of these grips on a different bike and I find them to be very comfortable. They provide nice wrist relief and support when riding. I run them on my full suspension 27.5 and on my fat bike.

Didn’t work for me

On long rides, I experience minor hand numbness with normal grips. I installed these grips, and the numbness actually got worse. These grips are well built and work for lots of people, but they aren’t a good fit for me.

Perfect for new geometry

Moving to a newer geometry 29er, I started to get numb hands. Going to these grips has solved that issue. Experiment with the wing position a bit, as I'm sure everyone is different. When adjusted properly, I've found these improve comfort dramatically both climbing and descending. I now have about 300 miles of trail riding on them, with much of it chunky descending in Moab and it read more seems as though it even eases how hard I have to grip them on the down because of the platform it creates for the heel of my hand.

Happy hands

These are the most comfortable grips I've had, and the only ones where my hands don't go numb. Love' em!

No hand numbness

I previous had the stock round grips and my hands would go numb after 30-40 minutes. With the Ergon grip that problem is gone, plus they are very comfortable with the extra palm support.

A little extra support goes a long way.

I got these grips because a friend told me they were nice for MTBing. They support my hands in a great way for downhill and it gives me more confidence having the extra palm support. I would recommend moving your brake levers in a little bit to accommodate the extra space. I hit a tree with my bars and the grips escaped unscathed. Really great product.

Wrist Issues = GONE

I started out riding with normal grips (round) but ended up having horrible wrist issues. It would feel like i had pins and needles in my fingers when i would touch things. I tried these grips to see if they would help, as one of my main issues was putting all the weight of my upper body on my wrists. Since i put these on my bike, no issues at all! I highly recommend them!

Not For Me

After riding with ESI Chunky grips for a couple seasons, I was looking for more support for long rides and saw these got great reviews. I could immediately see they offered amazing support for long climbs and general trail riding. But unfortunately, I was terrified when the trails pointed downhill. The problem was - in order to get proper support, the wing needed to be raised read more higher than I expected. But in doing so, it prevented me from being able to wrap my hands around the bar on the descents - leaving my hands pumped from constantly riding with a death-grip.

A very different grip.

I am new to mountain biking, but not to cycling. I decided to give these grips a try on my new hardtail XC bike, and I am glad I did. They took a few tries to get them in a good position and the result is a super comfortable grip. I find I can ride a long time with minimal hand discomfort from the pounding on rough trails. A big improvement over the stock grips. I found the grip read more positioned with the pinch slot being nearly parallel [level] to the ground worked best.

Makes riding more comfortable

I have had nerve issues and these grips have fixed that. They are great for long rides and rides of any distance if other grips give you discomfort. If you suffer from hand discomfort or nerve issues with standard grips, I highly recommend giving these a try. It can take a little bit to get the correct angle but don't be afraid to adjust them initially.

Grips of choice!

Love these grips! Tried round grips again after wearing a pair of these out and did not last long before going right back to these. The palm support and solid grip of Ergons make the difference for aggressive trail riding and longer rides.

Just buy them

They simply make riding more comfortable. I won't have another bike that doesn't have the Ergons.

Ergon grips - really improved my riding

I upgraded to some Ergons (maybe the GP-1s?) a few seasons ago to help with some thumb pain caused by old skiing wreck. These grips subtly change your posture to direct the weight outward, which really helps remove and balance pressure. Mine have been really durable, clipped some trees and survived a few crashes. The aluminum really helps hold them up, and the rubber hasnt read more dried out at all. All in all, it has been a good upgrade that didnt require a ton of investment, I'd recommend them to anyone

Helps with a neutral wrist

It doesn't take too many miles off road for my hands to start falling asleep. I've optimized my cockpit proportions and used every bar out there (Jones loop are the best) but the single best change is ergon grips. When properly positioned, the flared grip promotes my wrist to a neutral position. Grip, comfort and handling are still on par with the cylinder grips I'm used to (Lizard read more Skins, ODI, ESI etc.). Install is breezy. Get some.
