Edelrid HMS Strike Slider FG Locking Carabiner reviews and deals for sale
The Edelrid HMS Strike Slider FG Locking Carabiner is a low-profile, lightweight locker for belaying and rappelling. An H-profile construction ensures superb strength while remaining ridiculously lightweight (2.3 ounces). Unlike most innovative locking systems, this automatic locker only requires one hand and is super quick and simple. The spring bar prevents cross loading, and the keylock nose makes sure the rope doesn't get hooked when you're taking climbers off belay.

Edelrid HMS Strike Slider FG Locking Carabiner Reviews

September 4, 2020Not great for top rope solo
Purchased this to have a slim locking carabiner to put on a micro traxion for a TR solo setup. The spring bar is not strong enough to prevent cross loading when used in this setup. It appears the "fit" around the belay loop is a bit too tight and there is too much movement there that forces the belay loop out. I cannot speak to how it is for regular belaying and this *review only… read more applies to using it for a TR solo setup*. I imagine it would be fine for belaying.

September 1, 2019Love this carabiner!
This biner is amazing. The slide lock is super convenient. I used it with my megajul then recently switched to a grigri and it works wonderfully. The slider works amazingly with gloves on as well. I really don’t have any complaints about it!

November 14, 2018Smart Alpine Device Companion
This carabiner is an excellent choice for use with a Mammut Smart Alpine Belay Device, specifically. You need a relatively wide carabiner to accommodate the Smart Device, and many of the locking 'biners with keeper wires to prevent cross loading while lead-belaying are just a touch too narrow to either keep the SABD in the ideal position or fit it on at all. The keeper wire is… read more snug on most harness belay loops and opens upward. This makes for mindful initial placement when setting up your belay, and a quick, easy pull to release your belay loop when taking off the carabiner. Excellent. I do wish the carabiner were a touch thicker for smoother feeding, though this thing is dang light. The only other 'drawback' is based solely on personal preference––I'm not a fan of the slide-lock function. I feel it wouldn't be too difficult to unintentionally disengage the locking mechanism, especially when cozied up with others at anchors etc. If Edelrid came out with a twist-lock or a screwgate, I'd spring for it in a heartbeat.

Great biner to use with the MegaJul! And the locking design is amazing, brilliant, easy to use.

April 2, 2018No more Cross loading. Brilliant design!
These are THE BEST belay carabiners you can get. Now we just need edelrid to make the slide locker in the bullet proof model. I didn't have to take more than 1 sec to transition to learning how to use these, just intuitively picked it up from day one. Have never had trouble opening the gate from greasy hot sunny days with sunscreen on and freezing days with ice,. Alpine to sport,… read more gloves to sunscreen, these are awesome! Been using them for three years of climbing around the country. These are an absolute breakthrough with design brilliance! Saved me so much time from having to screw/unscrew and those frustrating times that a new climber cranked down on a locker and TRd on it locking it down that I've probably saved days of time if you added it up. This time is most important on multi pitch, where setting up the belay quickly is imperative as the time stacks on you. They've also saved money from lost gear. It's easy to lose ice screws and nuts racked on regular biners (esp. going through brush, bottlenecks, and weird down climb/slide scenarios) so I started racking them on the smaller D slide lockers, and it's like a dream come true. So good! No more lost gear, no more wasted time. Slide locker not locking? I've never had it happen that much, but you need to check EVERYTHING before climbing or belaying and if it didn't automatically snap shut all you have to do is put the slightest pressure on the back of the gate (or breathe on it, or look at it funny) and it locks. Easy.... You need to check anyway, even the twist locks take more time and weigh more, and the gates can catch in the open position as they age (caught my partner's twist locker doing this in the gym one time). So why not get something that is faster, lighter, easier and smoother. THESE ARE THE $#%+
