Dometic CFX3 55 IM Powered Cooler reviews and deals for sale
Anyone who has camped in warmer months for more than a few nights knows just how much of a pain it can be to monitor ice levels and drain off excess water from your cooler. Dometic’s CFX3 55 IM cooler implements an integrated electronic compressor with adjustable temperature settings to keep your food cool and the built-in ice-maker produces ice cubes in a matter of hours even when the cooler is set to refrigeration.

October 26, 2020Ice in the desert. ;)
This cooler is everything it is touted to be. I use a PLB-40 battery inline from my accessory plug in my rig to the cooler. We added that later so we would not worry about running the truck batteries down (even tho there is a safe guard against that). When I am not running off the truck, the PLB gives me power to run the cooler. We don't have to worry about food getting soggy… read more in melting ice! The LED light seems like a small feature, but when you need something late at night from the bottom of the cooler with no headlamp, it is suddenly very nice... There is some monitoring info (for power usage) as well for the truly geeked out users but most of it is over my head. The ice maker...what can I say. To have a small tray of ice for a couple end of day cocktails is a nice treat.

October 16, 2020Don’t waste your money, stay away!
Not sure what to say, I have received two of these neither worked. I ordered the 1st one and upon plugging it in I received on the display a warning code 03 - which upon searching the internet is defined as simply as an internal fault that needs repair (the manual that shipped with it is useless for debugging error codes). I returned that one for a replacement. Backcountry waited… read more until the returned one arrived before shipping out the replacement, which is understandable but also translates to wasted time if you eventually want to use the thing. This wasted time compounds itself when the replacement also shows up broken. This time I got an error code 33, which translates to the compressor not starting (again thank you google). The problem only presents itself when plugged into dc power, seems to run ok on ac. Well isn’t the primary marketing of this device to be used off dc from your vehicle or solar? If wanted to plug a cooler into my ac I would just buy a fridge for 1/4 of the price. As it stands complete waste of money and my time. Not sure what to do here because I need a working cooler ASAP... that said for a ‘high end’ product that costs over $1000 receiving 2 that have separate problems that don’t make them work out of the box is a huge reliability and manufacturing red flag. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if in the market for a 12/24v cooler / fridge.
