DMM Alpha VW Sport Quickdraw reviews and deals for sale

Bolt hangers can wreck havoc on lightweight wire-gate draws, especially if you're regularly whipping off a project and hang-dogging through sequences. To address the issue, DMM fitted its featherlight Alpha biners with hot-forged solid gates to make the Alpha VW Sport Quickdraw. The combination of durability, easy handling, effortless clipping, and a relatively low weight make this draw the perfect choice for sport climbers who expect their gear to work as hard as they do.

Yes, they clip as good as they look.

I'll quote my climbing partner's reaction to the first round of using these lil' dudes, "They're like the sports car of quickdraws." I have had such good experiences with DMM biners that I sprung for a dozen of these when it was time to freshen the sport rack. Crazy smooth clipping and unclipping on both the gear and rope end. They seem burly and I suspect they will pass the test read more of time. The gear end of the dogbone has a nice play to it, good for clipping bolts or cams. They probably won't be coming into the backcountry with me, but for any cragging a few of these will be on the gear sling.

The Best for Sport

Any draw will work, some folks are clipping ovals and Ds while sending 5.14, but if you want the best draws for sport climbing, and you are willing to spend the money, then buy these. It’s a tough call between these and the Spirits, because the Spirits are pretty sweet for trad too and so they might be a decent quiver of one, but in the end I figured I have the Heliums and Chimeras read more for trad draws. The Alpha VW practically clips itself, and fits the hand real nice. They last long enough to justify the cost, at this point we spend $100 on an ultralight cam so it’s reasonable. Adding to ridiculousness is that the hard climbing I do all has permadraws, so I’ll be clipping these on the easier routes...

Great gift to make climbers happy

I got these as a gift and he had the following to share: you gear is sexy. some more than others, and when i rack up with these new dmm draws, my heart races just a little bit. The perfect melding of form meeting function. But lets be honest the function is the sexiness in form. These draws just rock...pun intended. No snagging, easy clipping and UN-clipping, how often do we read more think of that. And a extra meaty bone for the when you are weak...which for me seems all too often haha... to grab hold and go up and take a look around on those heartbreaking projects.

Always MY draws...

Hey guys. We all have a sport rack. But you guys always want ME to bring MINE. I get it, I get it. The DMMs are hella smooth. The gate on the rope end is perfectly shaped for easy clipping. You never have to fumble with it. And the basket guides the rope right where you want it. And they just feel good to work with. I get it. You like my rack... way better than you like yours... read more So fine. I'll bring the DMMs again. (I hope this isn't the only reason you guys go on climbing trips with me.)

Very Smooth

Most of the time I am using these I am in the gym. However, even with that said, these are the smoothest carabiners. I am still in the process of learning clipping for lead and these make it much easier. Because of how smooth they are I am able to clip easier and more effectively.

Saw them In Wales and I had to buy more

When you are climbing with Welsh climbers in both Spain and in Wales and you are red-pointing and you reach up to clip.... pray that you have some of these. Hands down, the easiest, most versatile draw I have ever touched. Coming from wire-gate BD's these are a game changer. DMM is quality gear from guys who know it best over there in Wales.

Best draw I have used

I have used a lot of different draws and these are hands down the best I have ever used! The smoothest gate action I have ever seen, huge bend on the end of the gate makes it incredibly easy to clip your rope into, the grooves on the side make it easy to grip (I actually noticed the difference), thick but light bone for the size so the draw never gets twisted, and just down right read more look awesome! Down side: not the lightest on the market but still not an issue in my opinion and also pricey, well worth the price though!

4x4 of the quickdraw world

If you're tough on gear or have huge balls this is the draw for you. I couldn't have been happier with a piece of equipment

My Favorite Quickdraw

I love the business end carabiner, with its easy clip gate which DMM says is hard to accidentally unclip. DMM makes super high quality stuff, the gate action is solid and smooth and I expect these 'biners to last years and years without any degradation to the action. Suberb sport quickdraw.

Decent draw

Overall this is a good draw. VW bones eliminate a lot of twisting to keep the biners oriented properly as much as possible. The bolt biner has a solid feel and very smooth action while the rope biner has a deep bend to make clipping a breeze. Almost never have to fiddle with the biner orientation or reclip due to the draw slipping.
