Continental Trail King Tire - 27.5in reviews and deals for sale

Continental developed the Trail King 27.5in Tire with voluminous support and tenacious traction to match modern trail and all-mountain machines with increasingly slack geometry figures and longer travel designs. This aggressive tire excels when the trail turns steep and technical, thanks to its multitude of small, angular knobs biting onto the trail, regardless if it's the perfect loam we all dream about in Northern California or the famed slickrock mesas of Southern Utah.

What really makes the Trail King Tire stand out is its larger casing volume, which is significantly wider when you match its size to other tires in this category (take this into consideration when looking at the clearance of your frame and fork). This affords bump-smoothing support and relentless traction over loose dirt and rock gardens, as you can run a much lower tire pressure to compensate, especially seeing its tubeless-ready design. Additionally, Continental now offers a 2.6-inch option that's significantly wider than the already-gargantuan 2.4 Trail King, but without being as slow or sluggish to respond as some plus-sized tires you'd find on 27.5+ bike.

This particular Trail King features Continental's BlackChili compound, which strikes just the right balance between relatively fast rolling speed and all-out grip, all without sacrificing longevity when you're smashing it on the trail and logging serious miles throughout the riding season. It's reinforced against cuts and punctures with Continental's Protection Apex, which is up to the task of serious thrashings common to aggressive trail and all-mountain riding.

Hands down, The best.

By far the best trail tire I've ridden. You may want something a bit chunkier if you're riding park/gravity/downhill (Check out Der Kaiser/Der Baron from them) The Trail King never lets me down! Excellent climbing traction, as in I've never spun out. Top notch cornering, I always feel confident when the berm turns out to not be a berm... As good on the roots as they are on the rocks. read more Pretty darn good in the wet and slick as well. Maybe not a mud tire, but who rides those days anyhow? A bit of a tight fit on most rims but they set up tubeless no problem with a standard floor pump. I'm no expert, but I'd say you won't be disappointed with this tire!

So far so good

I only have a couple rides one these so far, but they have a good feel to them being mounted on a 30.5id rim (2.4" front and rear). I wanted to try something other than the oh so familiar Maxxis line so I ventured into Continentals territory. So far so good. A very tight fitting tire, but they have held the air well. This is the newest version of the tire (slightly different tread read more and apex protection) which if doing research online you need to be aware of since a lot of info out there is regarding the older variant. In the newer version they improved on the negatives you will encounter noted in online posts. Made in Germany at a competitive price with good rubber, not much else to say.
