Best hiking / trail running socks

I've had 3 pairs of these that I've been alternating for the last 6 years. They're just starting to show a bit of wear in the heels. I've used them on multiple 20–30 mile death marches, in places like the White Mountains and the Tetons, and at the end of the day my feet are usually the one part of me that feels fine. I wear running shoes with a lot of mesh, and at stream crossings read more just clomp through the water. Usually within 20 minutes, I can't even tell that the socks had been wet. I've used SmartWool socks in the past. These have typically gotten holes in them after 1 season. I'm just really pleased with Bridgedale all around. I also have midweight and heavyweight boot socks by them, for use in mountaineering boots and winter climbing boots. These don't get as many hard miles as the lightweight ones, but still ... I think I have some that are 20 years old, and they look practically new. I don't think I've had to retire a pair of Bridgedales yet.

Failed on first run

Admittedly, the run was a 100k+ trail run in mountainous terrain, but by 31 miles, one big toe had gone through the end of the sock and by 51 miles I had holes in both socks. Not what I had expected for the price.
