These gloves are so warm and cozy. They look great on the slopes boarding on Brighton

Hope You Have A Drying Rack

I initially was quite happy with these mittens, but after two years (~35 days) of use, their flaws have become apparent. Time to break the bank for some Hestras! The main problems 1. Poor Insulation Life 2. Porous Insert 3. Awkward Cuff Design At first, the insulation seemed to be more than adequate. It has now packed out significantly, and they feel more like a shell than an read more actual insulated glove! Even worse, because these are all leather, water easily penetrates the outside and gets past the porous insert, removing any warmth and requiring hours of heating to get back to dry. Unless you plan on re-applying sno-seal to these after every wet day, I'd limit them to days without precipitation. Finally, the cuffs are so tight that getting your hands into these is a struggle, and unless you have a rubber band, you'll have no chance keeping your hardshell over these and preventing snow from getting in. Once that happens, these things are goners. Stick with a cuff that goes OVER your jacket sleeve or avoid contact with the snow altogether!

Cool looking, but not very warm

I'm surprised by the number of people calling these warm and toasty. I've been very disappointed by how cold my hands get in these mittens, and I'm not a person who typically runs cold. The whole point of mittens is to conserve heat by containing your fingers in one compartment, but these are barely warmer than my Outdoor Research Storm Tracker gloves, which I love, but mainly read more use on spring (or relatively warm) ski days. I got these mittens to replace an old pair of burly Dakine Ski gloves because my hands were getting cold on the really cold ski days. These mittens are worse. I don't know if it has something to do with the built-in "finger slots", which function like a glove liner that you can't remove, or just a lack of insulation. If you just want some cool looking mittens and don't plan on being out in really cold/windy weather, then these are great. If you want to stay warm at altitude on cold windy days, then get some real mittens. Disclaimer: I got mine over a year ago, so I can't guarantee that they haven't been updated since then.

Toasty Mitts!

Great mittens with good dexterity so you can still grip some ski poles, even it gets towards the bottom of the thermometer. Black Diamond makes some of the best stuff, and these gloves are no exception.

Best fit ever

First pair of mittens that actually fit my hands. The leather keeps me dry. Warm and very durable. 10/10 would recommend.

Perfect Fit

These gloves are great. They are super slim and well fitting. The velcro for the wrist is great because it helps keep the snow out as well as tuck it under my jacket sleeve.

Perfect amount of insulation!

These are excellent mitts! Not so much insulation that they feel bulky, but enough to keep your hands toasty on cold days. The dexterity is great and the finger slots are a nice touch!

Wamer than expected.

Accidentally Purchased without realizing they had the internal finger slots, but to my surprise them kept me pretty warm. I was worried about the finger slots making my hands colder, but haven’t noticed a difference between the two.

One of my favorite pair of mittens

This is my second pair of these mittens and I’ve only purchased the second pair in order to be able to wear another color. My first pair is on season three and still feels as warm, dry, and protective as day one. These gloves are true to fit. I wear a medium and the fit is very natural. The design is simple but attractive with a velcro strap at the wrist and extra padding on the read more top of the hand that offers a little additional protection from grazing branches and trees. These gloves are warm, therefore they could offer a little too much insulation for a warm sunny spring skiing day.

Perfect fit

Finally a mitten that fits! I have small hands and normally have way too much wiggle room, but these fit perfectly (I purchased size small). Haven't taken them out for skiing yet, but I'm impressed with the quality.

Decent pair o mitts

These BD Spark mitttens do the job! I would consider my hands large hands so I got the XL, great fit. I use these gloves for skiing and snowboarding in Utah and they keep my hands warm and dry even in single degree temps. They are leather on the outside, with a neoprene cuff that is adjustable with the velcro strap to seal out the snow. On the inside is a fleece liner with finger read more slits. They feel pretty light and easy to move in compared to my old gloves (backountry wasatch gloves). I've used them for maybe 10 days on the mountain. The only negative I can see with these is that the snot pad on the thumb can get covered in snow rendering the feature useless. These gloves are great and I would still recommend these to a friend or anyone who wants to spend all day on the mountain.

Toasty!

Absolutely love these gloves. Ended up buying these strictly for pow days and cold weather and boy do they do the job. They keep my hands warm and toasty even in the toughest conditions . Would highly recommend!

Tough mitts

Wore these on a 6 day heli-ski trip to BC. Daily temps were usually in the mid/low-20s F* with rigorous conditions -- skis on/off, bundling and loading into the machine, handling packs, boots, etc. They worked great and I never had cold fingers. There were a few days where the leather looked pretty saturated in spots late in the day but my fingers inside were dry and warm! Quick read more dry overnight and the Sparks were ready to go next day. Always had a backup pair in my pack but never needed to pull them out.

small cuff

Warm mitts however the cuff is extremely small. If you can deal with the cuff not going over your base layer then these mitts are for you.

Low Profile Warmth

If you are looking for mitten that will not break the bank, will keep you warm and keep the bulk to a minimum the Spark is a great choice. The Bdry insert and the 60g of Primaloft gold work together to keep you hands comfortable and dry. I have used these on spring days where the temps are warm and the snow is wet and and on frigid powder days where other gloves would fail. All read more in all I give these gloves two thumbs up. Be aware though that they do tend to run pretty big. I usually wear a size large in gloves and can comfortably fit down to a small, although the medium fits the best by far. The cuff is nice and keeps the snow out and transitions well into the jacket with its narrow tunnel. The leather is also built to last and stands up against rope work and the daily abuse of life on the mountain.
