October 19, 2020Way too small!!!
I would say size up!! Runs small. Ive had these for about a year and they still havent fully broken in or stretched. Not very grippy, I have slipped off a hold twice - both times leaving me with a sprained ankle!!!! I recommend getting a different pair!!

March 2, 2020Great shoe once you get sizing right
I ended up going to REI so that I could try this shoe on in-person. My street shoe is US 6.5-7, usually needing a 7 because of callouses on the side of my feet from years of ballet. I ordered a 6.5 from the site after reading a review from a woman who sized down a half size (not on this site). I could get my foot in, but it was really painful - too tight and my toes curled too… read more much. I'm a once/week (more like twice/month) indoor social climber - I don't have the tolerance for that kind of pain for the level of climbing I'm at. I ended up with a US 8 (39.5) in this shoe - it's a smidge longer than I'd like, but I will still be able to heel hook without worrying about slipping out, and the width feels good. The guy at REI said the fabric isn't made to stretch, so given my priorities, this seemed like the right size for me. He also said it's common to size a half to full size up with this brand.

December 20, 2019Quality beginner shoe
Climber a few times in this shoe both outdoors and in the gym and it has held up great. Its a very comfortable shoe which is nice when your spending quite a bit of time on the wall. There is a little bit of downturn which is excellent for sticking onto those tricky footholds. Overall I would recommend these to anyone who is just getting into climbing.

August 14, 2019Awesome Beginner Shoe
My friend, who has never climbed before, tried these out and she loved them! Didn't find them uncomfortable at all. She had an awesome time climbing for her first time an the shoes definitely helped. I always tell first-timers to just "trust the shoe" and these didn't let her down. Also, size up!

August 1, 2019Great Shoes
I love these shoes better them my Evolv shoes. My toes are tight but not scrunched and it grips well. I would recommend this shoe to beginner climbers. Its a good shoe to also grow in to since it allows me to do some more aggressive holds. I would recommend to 1/2 size up from your street shoe size ( a full size up if you have wider feet)

July 15, 2019Beginner Winner
I am still a fairly beginner climber, and I have been using these shoes for the past month at our works bouldering wall while participating in our works bouldering league! So I got to use these shoes everyday for a month straight. From day 1 to day 30 the shoes felt super comfortable and consistent. I think i got lucky in that these shoes fit my foot straight from the box. while… read more the length was perfectly fitting, i felt the body and toe box of the shoe was wide enough to keep me comfortable while still feeling agile. I had a great experience with these shoes!

May 30, 2019Beginner Shoes
These are great for someone getting into climbing. There do in fact run a bit small so I would half or full size up in these. I used a size 9 in these and I could have gone up a half size. usually, don't wear socks with my climbing shoes and typically in sockless shoes, I am an 8.5 so a 9.5 would have worked better.

April 7, 2019Rubber soles are not that great
I was really excited for these shoes but were disappointed after trying them out 2 times. What was wrong with them? -Really uncomfortable for someone with wide feet. I purchased street shoes size this time too! -The rubber soles are not sticky. The soles are pretty slick, which makes it hard for you to trust your feet while climbing. I bought my other half a pair of these awhile… read more back and the sole of his Black Diamonds are still not sticky after multiple use.

March 13, 2019Way Too Small
I was so excited to get these shoes! They are a great deal on some beginner shoes that seemed to be an all around great choice. I read the reviews for sizing, and followed the recommended half size up. Well, that was not enough. I will unfortunately be returning these, and I would recommend that any future buyer size up at least a whole size, which will still give you the kind of… read more tight feeling you want from a climbing shoe without completely crumpling your toes!

March 8, 2019Perfect First All-Around Shoe
Very comfortable compared to other climbing shoes. They'll be perfect for climbing in the gym and starting to get outside!

February 21, 2019Not good if you have wide feet
I ordered these shoes in a slightly larger size as other reviews suggested, but realized when I got them that they are too narrow. I was only able to get one of my feet into them and it felt like my little toe was being completely squished, but my foot didn’t even reach the end of the shoe. My other foot was too wide to even try the shoe on.

December 21, 2018Sweet climbing shoe
I got these shoes for my first pair of climbing shoes as I was tired of using my sisters. I love that they are easy to put on with the velcro straps. I am a 6 1/2-7 in regular shoes and I got a 7 1/2 in these because they run a little small. They do take some time to break in but it's well worth it. I climb indoors and they grip great. I have yet to try them outside. Great shoe… read more overall!

October 22, 2018Great 1st climbing shoe - go 1/2 larger
I got these Black Diamond Momentum Climbing Shoe - Women's for my 12 yr old daughter as her 1st pair of climbing shoes. She loves the color (merlot) and smooth design. She wears a 8.5 normally but decided on 9.0 for comfort instead. She feels confident when she climbs and it supports her great.

September 25, 2018Great beginner's climbing shoes!
My first ever pair of climbing shoes. I'm 9 in street shoes and bought 9.5 for these. They were still painfully small when I first put them on but break in after 3-5 climbs. Now I've been climbing in these for 3 months and they've been working really well for me. Aside from the technical aspects (I'm probably not the right one to talk about these), I really like the design and color… read more of these shoes - so neat and clean!

August 21, 2018Fits very small
I'm a size 6, and got these in a 6, but when they came in, I literally couldn't get my foot into the shoe. They are so small. I'm exchanging to try a 7 instead.

August 16, 2018Great Shoes for Beginners
I bought these as a gift for a friend who just got into rock climbing. She mostly climbs in the gym, and says that these are great beginner shoes so far.

May 16, 2018Solid Beginner Shoe
When I heard that Black Diamond was launching a line of their own climbing shoes, I was immediately interested. They have a long standing reputation in the climbing industry and I was curious to see how their shoes would perform. I've been rock climbing for about 4 years now and am a huge fan/supporter of Black Diamond's gear -- in particular their trad gear and sport harnesses.… read more As far as shoes go I am basically a die hard La Sportiva fan (their shoes just fit my feet and my feet love their shoes!) but I definitely wanted to give Black Diamond's shoes a try. BD's shoes are manufactured by Butora, another long standing climbing shoe company. I own a pair of Butoras myself and am very pleased with their performance. While most companies use a leather upper for their shoes, Black Diamond's shoes are designed with an Engineered Knit Technology synthetic upper with the purpose of preserving the shape of the shoe as it gets broken in. It also eliminates the inevitable stink that all shoes will develop over time. I think this is a really unique and innovative design and plays up the tradition of using leather uppers. That being said, I found the Momentums to be rather stiff -- I would attribute the stiffness to the mesh knit upper as it does not have as much flex as leather does. Black Diamond intended for these to fit true to your street shoe, but I went half a size up from my street shoe/dress shoe and I still found them to be rather tight and stiff compared to other moderate shoes I've used in the past. After some breaking in my feet got used to the new technology and I would suggest these to new climbers that are looking for a moderate intro shoe that won't fall apart after 6 months of regular use. Fit: My street shoe size is a 6.5 most of the time. I wear the Momentums in a size 7 but considered even a 7.5 at first. This is overall a solid beginner shoe. It wouldn't be my go to pick for most climbing, but it is good for what it's designed for, which is entry level casual climbing. ** Photos to come soon **

January 25, 2018Trad and Routes
I'm bouldering in this photo of me is, but I would quickly get these for easy sport and trad. I would size differently though. For long trad days, get your shoe size. If you want a more aggressive fit for single pitch sport, or gym climbing. go down 1/2 a size. I think the fabric is going to be a gamechanger, for summer climbing, especially trad. Breathability in shoes is much… read more needed, in the climbing world. So, I'll be excited to try these in warmer temps. There isn't a break in period with these, which is awesome. The edging and rubber is great. But, I don't yet know how it will wear, over time.
