Black Diamond Distance Z Trekking Poles reviews and deals for sale

The Distance Z Trekking Pole is Black Diamond's most affordable collapsible offering, but that doesn't mean it's lacking in quality or design. Although it's made of durable aluminum, the Distance Z still weighs well under a pound per pair, and it features the same collapsible design as Black Diamond's other Z-series poles. Just push a button to release the sections and pull the grip like an avalanche probe to reassemble when you're ready to go. The EVA foam grip has an extended mini-grip for easy traversing and side-hilling, and the breathable, padded strap provides plenty of support and comfort on both hot and cold days. Black Diamond also hooked up interchangeable carbide and rubber Tech Tips to help you handle all sorts of terrain, and it included trekking baskets to give you enough support on soft surfaces without catching on trees, roots, and rocks.

Like these very much

I was a little leery of choosing a fixed length pole but the size guide was correct and I like these very much. I'm a light hiker with balance issues so I appreciate their sturdy support. The straps are a little rough but I can live with that. I really like the z design. I was so tired of having to constantly adjust the length on other designs as they tended to collapse.

Light and sturdy

Great poles to pack with you when you are concerned about weight and size. It is easy to fold and unfold to fit your suitcase of backpack, but it is not straight forward the first time, so practice at home a bit. It has good grip and load bearing strength.

Love these poles

These are great light weight poles that fold up small and are easy to carry. Sturdy and reliable. I always have them with me when I hike in winter or summer. Highly recommend.

Dependable and well-balanced

Great poles, I don't think I'll ever use anything else. I guess there are lighter poles available, but personally I abuse my gear pretty well, and these have shrugged off everything I've thrown at them. You know they won't let you down. I was apprehensive about the fixed length at first, but love it now. You don't have to fiddle with clips and clasps, and you know that each side read more will be perfectly even all the time, every time. If you are a "set it and forget it" type of person, you want these. It also means that these can be extended and collapsed on the go, without even having to take your eyes off the trail. The foam grip stays comfy after hours of use, and the contour makes them great for choking up when going uphill, and there is a small amount of hook that lets you palm the top but still grab it well when descending. The balance is great, and if these are "too heavy" then you really have far more pressing matters than the weight of your poles. The only downside I have found is that if your shelter relies upon the use of poles that must be different lengths, these will not work well. They are not stable unless locked in at their fixed length.

Great for hiking!

Used them just a couple of times but they have become very useful specially in downhills or muddy hikings.

mixed feelings

The trekking poles were fine for summer hiking , awesome to carry in my backpack ,light when i traveled abroad to appalachians , patagonia but i tried using them in snow hiking at mt baldy for good 8mile hike up the bowl with snow buckets attached, it didnt have much bite into the snow or ice, the hand straps ended falling apart end of the day. I was disappointed, i ended up up read more ordering the black diamond treking shock poles for replacement for my snow hiking.

Durable poles

These poles are durable and get the job done. You can change the height and pack them up when you're done. They aren't the lightest on the market but are great poles for a great price!

Lightweight and durable

These trekking poles are great for backpacking - lightweight and durable. I'm 5'8" and I got the 120cm, but I found they were just a bit longer than I wanted. The 110cm would have definitely been too short though, so I just adjusted my grip down on the 120 and called it good!

Gets the job done

Not the lightest or most innovative, but works well and gets me up and down mountains. I use these for technical trail running and have been pretty stoked so far!
