Black Diamond Distance Carbon Z Trekking Poles reviews and deals for sale

Some people like sports cars, others choose speed boats, and the few who can afford it even pilot private jets. Your choice in speedy transportation, however, are your own two feet—and the Distance Carbon Z Trekking Poles. The lightest collapsible poles that Black Diamond makes, their pure carbon construction keeps the weight down to a microscopic nine or ten ounces, so they're perfect for long-distance treks, speed hiking, and even ultra-running—if you're into that sort of thing. The collapsible shaft packs down small when you're speeding through the flat sections, then assembles with a quick pull so you can whip in out in half a jiffy, keeping that pace up during a steeper approach. EVA foam grips wick your sweaty palms dry so a lost pole doesn't break your record, and interchangeable tips means you can pick the most efficient tip for the terrain.

Extremely light and packable inside or outside the hiking backpack. I’ve used them a few times so far and Am very pleased with my purchase. Oh and the size recommendations worked very well for me

Supremely light poles

These have quickly become my go-to hiking and running poles. They are extremely light, even lengthened out or packed down they are supremely light and barely noticeable when in a pack. Despite being so light, they are quite burly and durable; having dropped and thrown them without any substantial damage. The grips on them are great and do not get slippery when you begin to sweat, read more and show no signs of breaking down so far. I highly recommend these for anyone looking for collapsable trekking poles that are strong and light.

Rad Poles

Black diamond really nailed it with these poles at only 5 oz per pole these things are stupid light. so far I've put 1500+ miles on them with no issue other then the tips wearing out. Which is to be expected with that amount of use. black diamond sells replacement tips so they're back in commission. perfect for UL backpacking and trail running as well as any fast and light mountain read more pursuit. Over-all a great product. The only issue I've had with them is the handle after a few hundred sweaty miles started to leave small bits of itself on my hand. really a small inconvenience for how well they've worked so far .

Super light and sturdy!

I brought these poles for the first time on a three day backpacking trip in the Wind Rivers. The terrain there ranges from mellow hiking in meadows to climbing rugged scree passes. These poles held up great. I was worried about stability, since these poles are so light, but they felt just as supportive as heftier poles. I would totally recommend these poles for hiking, backpacking, read more and running. Just be sure to get the correct sizing when you order, or better yet, get the FLZ version where you can adjust the length.

Light, Compact, and Sturdy!

These poles are so light, there's no reason not to bring them! The Z fold design allows the poles to be stowed away easily. The grips are incredibly comfortable and I never had an issue finding traction on gravel trails and during some light scrambling. All in all, if weight is a big factor for you, these poles are a dream come true and don't sacrifice comfort or traction!

Best Trekking Poles You Can Get

These poles are feather light and fold up to an incredibly compact size. I use them on longer, steeper runs for extra support or if there is a chance of prolonged snow on the trail (early season peak bagging). They deploy incredibly easy if time is of the essence and stow away in my running vest (ADV Skin 12L Set) unnoticed when I need hands for scrambling or if I just don't want read more to use them. They're the strongest and most stable pole I have used for the weight, and like that they are a fixed length because this simplifies the design. Can't recommend these enough. Only downside is the price, and for the extra couple ounces, the lower price of the Distance Z Pole (Non Carbon version) is a completely justifiable alternative.

Ultra Light

So helpful for lugging around a heavy pack in some gnarly terrain. When you aren't using them you can put them on your pack and completely forget about them because they weigh practically nothing.

Top Notch

My first set of poles, they needed to be light, they needed to be short. These are well made pieces that are very light (10 1/4 ounces - 2 poles), and 14 1/2" long. They are beautifully made, positive locking and un-locking, rigid and strong. The hard foam handles are perfect, great to the touch. The adjustable wrist straps well made, not too heavy, beautifully detailed and read more comfortable. These poles have not yet stood the test of time but with two hard use experiences I think they will hold up and function for a very long time. Highly recommended.

Come apart when on wet terrain

Started using these today, descending an Adirondack peak. Tip lightly planted in moist gripping earth, and one of the the poles came apart, this happened 5 times in 1/4 mile. Back they go. Otherwise, liked the light feel, too bad.

super light

Just did grand canyon rtrtr with these and they were great. They seem much lighter than the adjustable cork handle poles I have, and I'll probably end up using them all the time.

Great all around

I have used these hiking poles on day hikes and long backpacking trips in various conditions. Even though they are very lightweight they are very durable/sturdy. I really appreciate the folding feature which makes them easy to pack for both short and longer adventures! The one small downside is that they are not adjustable for height, however this has never been a problem for me read more and my dad (who is five inches taller than me) and myself share a pair!

Lightweight & Durable

The Black Diamond Distance Carbon Z Trekking poles were one of the best purchases I have made. Incredibly lightweight - which is crucial for my upcoming backpacking trip this summer, and they fold up very easily. So far they're very durable, and have withstood some bigger treks. I'll never go back to aluminum hiking poles.

Great Product

While I was previously rocking the BD Alpine Carbon Cork poles w/ adjustable shafts (great poles, but I never ended up using the adjustable feature) my spouse has been using these (BD Distance Carbon Z) so I made the switch - especially since I've been focusing more on weight. Not only have these saved me seven ounces (which I can now put towards more whiskey) I'm a huge fan of read more how much easier they are to collapse and extend. There's an added plus of practicing your nunchuck skills when pulling them out of your backpack side pockets. Huge win, super glad to make the switch. (note: I'm 5'2", perfect sizer 90* angle). originally purchased in winter '15-'16. Had they not been "permanently borrowed" there were years of use ahead. From backpacking in the Uintas, snowshoeing in the Wasatch, or the varying terrain of the himalayas to Everest Base Camp, solid pair of poles.

Keep on Running

Use them for hard trail running or for light and fast hiking. Don't get in the way, and you hardly know they're there due to their weight. Fold up and store easily on the chest straps of my UD vest.

Hiking Poles Convert!

I always thought I didn't need hiking poles, until I used them for the first time. And now I don't hike without them! They keep me stable, and engage my whole body while hiking. These are super light, and packable which makes it so I can take them anywhere (and i do!)

You'll pry these from my cold dead hands

I love these poles. LIke really love. I got converted to the hiking pole thing when I started doing alpine/mountaineering style stuff where I had more weight on my back, snow, and/or really long descents. I then got even more zealous about them when I started doing longer 'fastpacking' style pushes - where I'm coving a big chunk of mileage in 2-3 days. For a while, I was using aluminum read more two-piece poles, which were fine, but a bit heavy, and finally splurged on these and have never looked back. Hiking / running with these is a pleasure - it's a got a quick crisp motion given the weight and build. They fold up super small and fit into or alongside a small pack when not needed. I was worried about having the fixed length - but hasn't impacted me at all - I choke up or down as needed which is much easier than fiddling with anything to adjust the pole length Super happy as always with BD's design - which is well thought out and has been holding up well over the last year

Really Sweet Poles

These poles are great. Light and really easy to collapse. They are a great choice for hikers looking for a pole to use on those technical hikes, and also runners looking for some support on longer or steeper runs.

Almost Perfect

These poles are crazy light! The trigger action release is great for collapsing and expanding on the go. The rubber tip works very well and the grip is pretty comfortable. The only thing is would improve on is the play in the top section when the poles are at full length...it feels like something is loose.

Lightweight stability

Don't use your heavy ski poles to hike in summer, get yourself some lightweight trekking poles. These are shockingly light, they break down into 3 sections, and you simply pull to lock the sections in place. If you haven't used trekking poles while backpacking, you're missing out. These make life a lot easier.

Is the price for a pair of poles or does it only include one pole? Also, is the weight for a pair of poles or just one pole?
