July 7, 2019Bomb-proof!
For all intents and purposes these are indestructible! They fit a bit slimmer through the legs than the Alpine Light and yet didn't overheat. I wore them non-stop on a climbing trip to the Eastern Sierra, replete with wide cracks, feldspar knobs, and ignoble butt-slides--and you'd be hard-pressed to know they'd taken such abuse.

June 10, 2019My go to hiking pant
Used these to hike a 2-for this past week at Mt. Whitney and Boundary Peak. Great in the snow. Glacaded down Whitney and they did not get wet at all.

Much baggier that then look in the photo and the built in belt buckle doesn't look too durable.

April 1, 2019Awesome pants
Love these. Climbed ice, snow and rock with them. Dragged them on rough rock, suffered through 8 hrs of non stop snow on them and they still look like I got them yesterday. Super durable and high quality. Water resistance properties are excellent. Only tiny complaint is there’s only one side pocket. Would have been nice to have one on the other side as well. Def recommended

March 18, 2019Great pants
I had backcountry send me 8 pairs of softshell pants from various companies to replace my discontinued Mammut Fiamma pants. These and the BD Alpine light pants are what I bought. I wear these for everything. Hiking, golf, work, climbing gym... you name it. These are very light soft shell type pants. They are very flexible, highly breathable and extremely comfortable. I love the… read more zippered pockets, and the material and construction have held up through a lot of abuse. Also, the price is also great compared to other companies. These fit ever so slightly small. Not quite as small as the Alpine light, but just a tad.

October 31, 2018Finally!
Yes, finally a climbing pant that fits well for those with athletic legs. Seems like all the pants I tried (Topo Designs, Parana, etc) were like spandex through the quads. Although theyâre listed as slim fit, they are more of a relaxed fit compared to other climbing pants. I wear a 34x32 in Leviâs 547, and the large fits me great. Trim trough the quads, which is nice while… read more wearing a harness, and a nice taper through the legs with cinch-able leg openings. Great hiking, climbing, light mountaineer pant for those that lift weights.

September 27, 2017Whistle while you walk!
I love the look, fit, and durability of these pants, but I don't love how loud they are. They sound like ski pants when you're walking around. However, I've put these pants through a number of rough scrambles that would shred a lesser pant, and these still look good as new, so the sound they make is relatively negligible issue.

March 1, 2017Lightweight, durable, and comfortable!
I used these pants for the first time Yesterday(President's Day) for a canyoneering trip through Telephone Canyon at Zion National Park. Due to the early season the approach to the entrance to the first rappel we had to due alot of bush whacking and they held up perfectly! Due to the warming temp and run off the canyon had a decent amount of water flowing through it and these pants… read more are awesome on drying off quickly! Perfect fit and stayed comfortable during the whole trip! f

December 22, 2005Excellent general purpose alpine pants
Excellent quality dynamic Schoeller is definitely the good stuff. I could use one more cargo pocket and without a drawstring. I added a lightweight belt, the elastic waistband by itself just doesn't quite cut it for me. Overall a superior and extremely functional pair of alpine pants.
