June 28, 2019All my friends love this rope
This rope is awesome. Iâve taken it on all sorts of climbs. Itâs my go to rope for any climb where Iâm worried about weight. The unicorn gives me confidence in the alpine. An itâs light weight 9.0 diameter cuts down on the rope drag on long trad pitches. It would not be the first rope id buy because of the skinny diameter a vigilant belay is absolute It definitely… read more slips threw the device easily an requires more pressure then say a rope with a 9.8 diameter would take to hold a climber in a fall. it also has a slick finish that I find a lot beal ropes have that adds to That as well . But if your an experienced climber looking for a skinny lead rope buy it! I promis you will have a new favorite rope.

November 29, 2018My Go 2 Rope
Iâve climbed with this on multiple trips to City Of Rocks, Idaho. When brand new it tends to bunch and not flake well but after a little break in....perfecto. I have yet to take any major falls on it but it has held up well to course rock. My buddy I climb with liked mine soo much he got one himself. I love the bright color

July 31, 2018Not so bomber...
This was my first Beal rope, and I am pretty bummed about it's performance. I had heard good things about it for alpine use, and liked what I saw when the rope first came. It handles well, and seems like a sturdy line. It is a bit dynamic, but it was used on a lot of moderate routes and didn't need to catch tons of falls. Bought about a year ago, my joker lasted two climbs (7 pitches)… read more before suffering a core shot. It got stuck in a flake during a rappel, and when flicked out it was cut fairly deep. Warranty doesn't cover this of course, and it made me worried about how strong their sheath material actually is. Unicore looks like amazing tech, but I'll be sticking to ropes from brands that I trust a bit more. Mammut, Eldridge, and Black Diamond all make excellent products, none of which have failed me like this.

July 6, 2017Back for more!
Based off my last review, the Beal Joker Climbing Rope lasted for a year and a few months, which is pretty long for me. I usually replace my rope a little less than a year, and the Joker is certainly the skinniest line I've ever purchased. I loved it whether I was on a roadside project or high in the alpine. For the price, this rope is certainly one of my favorites, and this new… read more blue one definitely won't be the last Joker I ever climb with.

March 21, 2016How many batteries?
On this rope's first outing, another climber asked how many batteries this neon orange rope takes. Lucky, it only takes three AAA's, but that's beside the point. So far, I've loved using this rope on wandering multi-pitches. On routes where I usually get a lot of drag, this skinny, superlight beauty slides around corners with ease. It has a supple feel through belays, and stays… read more secure when you're holding weight. I have yet to fall on this rope yet, but I'll add more to this comment when I finally do.

May 31, 2015Great light single rope
I am a Beal athlete and professional mountain guide. I have used the Joker unicore in Nepal, Canada, Washington and locally in Utah. Despite a thin 9.1 diameter, I trust my life to it on large alpine faces, and as a redpoint rope for difficult mixed and rock climbs. I highly recommend this product for alpinists looking for a light single rope, or those looking to shed a bit… read more of rope weight for harder single pitch climbing. The first thing I noticed about the Joker was how supple a cord it is, however, I have been really surprised by its durability. My joker unicore has survived a Nepal expedition, a winter of mixed climbing, a spring rock climbing, and is still going strong.

May 27, 2015Love this rope
This is my favorite rope I have every climbed on, it has a bit of stretch which doesnt bother me at all in sport climbing but this would be a bad choice if you do a lot of top roping. very impressed with its durability as well.
