December 13, 2019All the features
There are a few features that make this pad my favorite other than the safe landing. The light weight, hip straps, and padded shoulder straps have served me well on steep multi-mile approaches, and the durable material has held up to being shoved through brush and trundled down rock faces. The velcro flap on the bottom ensures that your snacks, shoes, and everything else doesn't… read more fall out of the bottom. I've used it at the party pit area in Little Cottonwood canyon several times, and it holds up to its namesake! The felt is very convenient for cleaning your shoes but tends to come off over time. This pad has traveled to Leavenworth, Red Rocks, Little Cottonwood, Joe's Valley, and is holding up like a champ!

September 16, 2019Good
The Pad is good if you use it as a secondary pad or to reinforce the landing on a given problem. I will not recommend this pad for someone how doesn't have many experience bouldering outdoor and is taking this as there primary or only pad. It's small and in the soft spectrum. Overall good price and quality looks good, like the goat!

September 13, 2019Rock on dude!
Metolius crashpads are my personal favorite for several reasons: the durability, the dependability, the protection, and the weight are just a few. I took a few of these pads out to Party Pit in Utah's Little Cottonwood Canyon last weekend and they were so easy to carry in as I scrambled over boulders to get to our spot. Don't let the thickness deceive you about its crash protection… read more either; Metolius has figured out how to create a non-bulky pad without compromising the safety you're counting on. Of course an added plus... that Backcountry Goat logo is pretty rad.

July 28, 2019A camp and bouldering staple
This is a stellar pad, it doesn't seem to need much breaking in, landings are soft and stable! The wrapping closure around the bottom of the pad and adjustable hooking loops open up the inside of the pad when folded for extra storage, it works perfectly for shoving all your gear and snacks in there. The pack straps aren't the best ever if you've loaded a bunch of weight inside… read more the pad, but they're entirely comfortable on longer approaches. On top of all that, I love using this crash pad as a camp chair while sitting around the fire, and although thats not the intended use, little embers haven't seemed to damage anything.

This pad is amazing all the way around. Especially for the price. It's a great size, weighs only about 9 pounds, and is great for those higher falls. The extra folds around the sides really come in handy for carrying shoes, water bottles, and extra items. The backpack straps are super comfy as well. All around a great crash pad to add to your collection.

June 19, 2019Great Addition
Had this pad for about two weeks before I had to return it (gear closet checkout) but overall had some great initial impressions. Took it to a few of the local boulders for the first week and turned the area into a gym. It has good compression, so you're protected from higher falls. And the felt on the side makes for easy cleaning. It's also really easy to travel with. The waist… read more belt gives the weight a nice distribution, and the wrap around cover is convenient when toting your shoes, chalk, speaker and any number of items along the way.

June 17, 2019Great little pad!
This pad is awesome. It may seem thin but has saved me a couple of times from 15+ feet. The felt on the corner for cleaning your shoes is really handy but it looks like it is wearing down a little too quickly.

June 3, 2019Lightweight and great for tailbones
Wouldn't take a fall without it! Nothing is more comforting than knowing that an unexpected fall won't result in a cracked coccyx :)

Been using a couple of these pads on Utah excursions with friends. Easy to carry - the hip strap and backpack straps are comfortable. Never fun to fall on a crash pad but this one certainly does the job well. No problems with durability, or even keeping it clean either. Definitely recommend. Remember! Safety third!!

April 25, 2019Light and can take a hard fall!
I am loving all the features of this crash pad - I mean features are really what it is coming down to with standard products such as a pad! And Backcountry x Metolius did it! Lightweight, hip strap, a place to stash your gear while you carry the pad, a few feet swiping stations and comfortable shoulder straps. I also appreciate the size/ width of this pad, it's a perfect addition… read more to your pebble wrestling friend outing or getting out alone to project. No brainer if you are looking for a new pad option - great price point!

April 15, 2019My new favorite crash pad!
I took my new Backcountry x Metolius crash pad out for a spin yesterday in New Hampshire. The hike in to the boulders was about a mile long and this pad was comfy, lightweight, and easy to carry. I love the carpeted corners; some of the areas were a bit muddy and the corners kept my shoes clean and dry. This will be my new go-to pad this summer!
