If there's one thing every avid outdoor enthusiast has hanging in their gear closet, it's a dependable layering piece like the Wolverine Cirque Hooded Jacket. This one draws inspiration from our previous hybrid version, now with more insulation around the torso to keep you warm, but still body-mapped for breathability. Clean lines make a minimalist appearance if you're simply wearing it around town, while the slim fit slides right under a shell if you're out in stormy weather.

December 5, 2020Sweet
I got this jacket for touring, and it’s been perfect. Just wearing this with a tshirt has kept me plenty warm even around 20 degree weather. The majority of the back is a thinner, breathable material, which helps release some heat on the uphill. The jacket is also surprisingly water resistant so I haven’t needed to throw on a shell with flurries. I’m 5’9” and definitely… read more on the stockier side, and a large fits perfectly.

December 3, 2020My new favorite
I was looking for a replacement for my old Atom LT hoody. The Cirque Hoody initially caught my attention due to the color - Buckthorn Brown. The current Atom LT color selection just didn't appeal to me. I am glad I bought it. The color looks just like in the picture, rich but not too shiny or reflective. The fit is slim, exactly as I expected after reading the previous reviews.… read more The jacket fits me pretty much the same as my Atom LT, maybe just very slightly tighter in the chest. The materials and workmanship seem top notch. I also like that the side panels are made of the same material as the rest of the jacket rather than fleece fabric. I think this will make the jacket a little warmer in cold weather and more importantly protect from easily getting wet when caught in the rain. All in all I am very happy with this purchase.

November 24, 2020Pretty true to the description BUT...
the yellow or Buckthorn Brown is not pictured accurately. The image on this site captures a richer yellow hue with a blue-ish gray lining. The actual outer color is closer to a dirty yellow or yellow-ochre but the lining is close to the picture. So, just setting your expectation there. Functionally, it’s a great jacket. Yes. It does run small. I’m 5’7”, 172 lbs with an… read more athletic build and 32” waist. This fits perfectly around my arms and the sleeve length is spot on with no bunching up at the wrists. The front jacket length hits right at the middle of the crotch. The fit is a regular or standard fit, so there is no taper going from the back to the waist line hem. But because it runs small, it’ll fit tighter to your body. The material and the jacket itself is similar to the Arcteryx Atom jackets and in this case, the Atom LT or AR. This jacket is a warm jacket but not overly powerful warm. While the jacket does provide a good amount of stretch all around, there is no additional give for the cuffs. So, if you’re thinking of hiding your gloves in the cuffs, you may have a slightly harder time doing so depending on your glove type. Also, there’s a cinch for your hood however, this jacket is not helmet compatible. All-in-all, this is still a great jacket to lounge around the camp, wear around town, go for a cool winter hike or snowshoe. And if you don’t care to flex in front of your friends, this is a great alternative to the Atom jackets.

October 21, 2020Resilient Toastiness for any occasion
I got this as a midlayer for touring and trekking, and nowadays I'll wear it to pubs, campgrounds, or anywhere cold really. It's comfier and tougher than I expected--holds up on all the camping trips I go on. It's also stretchy and breathable for hikes. The medium fits me very nicely, but I can see it running smaller for some.

October 13, 2020One Jacket to Rule them All
Hi, this is James and I work on the Backcountry brand product development team. I am writing this review today to help guide your sizing decision on this new product. The Wolverine Cirque got an update this year and is now a fully synthetic insulated jacket instead of a hybrid like previous years. We designed this piece to be a perfect mid-layer to be worn under you ski shell.… read more The slim fit and clean design makes it great for just that but it is also ideal for everything from chilly hikes to neighborhood strolls with the pup. I typically wear a medium in the other jackets in our collection but for this I opt for a Large. Still get the slim low profile performance in the larger size but slightly more comfort for everyday wear. I'm 6' and 175#

October 31, 2020How much does it weigh, say in comparison to Patagonia's hooded micro-puff? How compressible/pack-able is it? Without baffles, will the insulation move around within the jacket with repeated stuffing into packs?
