Backcountry Hayden GORE-TEX INFINIUM Jacket - Women's reviews and deals for sale

Why We Like It

We keep the Hayden Jacket in our gear closet in order to skip the resorts and stick to the peace and quiet—and fresh lines—of the backcountry. Gore-Tex's new Infinium fabric delivers stellar performance and comfort when we're on steep skin tracks or taking tricky traverses in search of fresh snow, and while it won't keep us dry if we're attempting a skinner in the midst of a PNW snowstorm, it will defend against flurries, the shedding of spruce, and any wind that tries to test our defenses. We built the Hayden to keep us light on our skis and dry from the inside out, no matter how many seconds, thirds, or fourths of that white room we decide to take advantage of.

Our passion, Gore’s Expertise

Our gear-loving expertise in the mountains goes back more than 20 years, and Gore-Tex is one of our favorite names in the game. Given our passion for the outdoors and Gore’s industry-defining expertise, it only makes sense that we teamed up to produce outerwear that defends on storm days and delivers comfort when we’re playing hard.

Construction

Breathable performance for active winter pursuits

Even the techiest of hardshells can leave us clammy on the skintrack, but we’ve taken advantage of Gore-Tex’s newest fabric in order to feel our best in the backcountry. Made to favor comfort and performance over waterproofness, this innovative technology is more flexible, breathable, and functional than classic Gore-Tex, making it ideal for steep, switchback-riddled ascents. It also boasts a Windstopper membrane to cut the chill during windswept traverses.

Low-weight breathability for chasing goals

3-layer construction is more breathable, more packable, more durable, and lighter than its 2-layer counterpart, so it thrives during strenuous efforts in the worst weather. This construction features a technical laminate attached directly to a face fabric and a backer. Though it’s called 3-layer, the design works more like a single layer that seals out the weather while releasing excess heat and moisture. In this process, the face and backer provide protection while the laminate does the heavy lifting of sealing out water and releasing moisture.

Keeps even the sneakiest moisture at bay

Even the highest-rated membranes won’t do a whole lot of good if the seams between aren’t defended. We fully seal every seam on our technical outerwear, so melting snow doesn’t find its way into baselayers.

Fit

Low-bulk mobility

A slim fit keeps excess fabric to a minimum for more efficient skinning on steep ascents, with a minimalist design that pairs better with touring packs and alpine harnesses.

Recommended Use

Built for backcountry touring

From their slim fit to their Infinium construction, our touring outerwear balances comfort with protection. We’ve designed these pieces to be low-bulk and breathable with a minimalist design that keeps weight manageable. Thoughtfully placed pockets assist with gear storage for items like skins or a beacon, and stowed gear is always accessible, even while wearing a pack.

Amazing Shell, great for pregnancy!

I’ve been looking for a nice shell for backcountry and resort skiing for a while and I think I’ve found it. I am 17 weeks pregnant and don’t have a belly yet, but I know as the season goes on I will need some extra space to grow. the extra zipper feature for extending the jacket space will be perfect for growing bellies!! It’s high quality and covers your butt, which I like. read more Beautiful color and simple yet well designed. Haven’t taken it out in snowing conditions but it’s been a great top layer so far.

Pockets please!

I love the colors and the fabric feels nice, although more like a spring weight. I wonder if it would be warm enough for winter weather. The simplicity of this jacket is key but it really needs a couple more pockets. The double zip option for venting it a nice touch.

Built for the Backcountry

Love this jacket! Goretex INfinium, so nice, super breasthable and waterproof. Softshell material is so comfy. True to size to slightly larger. I have the XS, Brick Red is a nice red color, not a shiny red :) . Sizing for me is always tough, so this is pretty close, I can layer under or not, room to do so, but not too much, just slightly longer on me than I'd prefer, but I'm 5'1" read more , so typically this happens. Love my new touring kit, this jacket and the hayden pants also, love.

Great jacket for most days... Went to France in the Spring and it rained for some of our trip.... I was soaked!!! Great resort jacket or jacket for skinning but I would not recommend if you are going to face questionable weather. I had brand new Flylow pants and I was soaked top to bottom... My friend that had the same pants but a Flylow jacket was completely dry on the same read more ski tour... Will keep this for touring on bluebird days... Love the zipper feature for airflow.

Just what I was looking for!

I wanted a jacket that would function in downhill skiing as well as in cold weather hiking. Wore this jacket for a 4 day trip downhill skiing and it was perfect! Weather ranged 10-35 degrees F and the layering was just great with a base-layer and fleece under it. It kept me nice and dry with the falling powder and the vents were nice when it warmed up and the sun peaked out. I read more have also worn it hiking in some light rain and it has kept me very dry! I love the stretch and breathability of the fabric! The front pockets/vents are perfect for storing any items throughout the day, but there are no pockets that you can stuff your hands in on walks (not a deal-breaker, but something to know!) I am 5'9" 150lbs and an athletic body type with long arms. The medium (my regular size) fits perfect with room to layer underneath. I put a thick base layer and a fleece under the jacket and added a thin vest on colder days. There was probably still room for a thin puffy, but I was warm without one!

Functional and Fashionable

I've worn the Hayden jacket on several tours this winter and in the early spring season and I have become a huge fan. Through the warm spring slush, bulletproof wind crusted chutes, cool glades, chilly sunsets and warm full moon tours this jacket has handle it all with ease. The Gore-Tex tech keeps me warm when it gets cold and it keeps me cool when it gets warm. I have yet to take read more it out in a blizzard, but it has kept me dry and protected from the wind. Functionally, I like the how simple the design is. I like the skin pockets for quick transitions - I generally prefer to keep skins in my bag once I'm heading down for the day, but this is a super nice feature to have when you're skiing downhill for a short section and need to throw your skins on again right after. The Gore-Tex fabrics are also stretchy and soft which feels great to wear and is easy to move around in. The membrane has dope tech which has tiny little holes that allows the small vapors from sweat to ventilate while keeping out the larger moisture beads. This comes in handy when it starts to snow or when spring slush splashes back up at you. The classic pit zips with the two zippers works great for unzipping at both ends without feeling like you're completely exposed. I also love the laser cut front zip ventilation. It was beautifully executed and subtly vents without needing to look like a Jerry with the sides flapping in the wind. And then we have style, because let's be real, we want to look good when we shred. The color options are awesome. They're colorful, but not crazy, and the slim cut looks athletic and functions great as it fits nicely under your touring pack. My only suggestion for this jacket would be adding a couple more pockets. I realize that the design is made for minimal backcountry touring, but it does function well in bounds and I think having a couple of small pockets for items like your lift pass, money, and chap stick would be awesome. I personally really like jackets that have the small pocket on the sleeve near the wrist cuff! Something similar would keep the design minimal but allow easy access for those smaller items you'll want throughout your tour or during a day at the resort!

GREAT

Great ski jacket for touring but also for everyday downhill skiing. The fit is true to size. Can wear with multiple layers underneath, such as base-layer and warmer insulator. The material has stretch, so perfect for mobility and performance activities. Pockets, in front are great to store skins or just keep open for ventilation with mesh pocket bags. Also love the color Brick read more Red that I got! Could not be happier!

Awesome Minimalistic Touring Jacket

I love the "no-frills" style of this jacket. With just a few essential pockets (I prefer chest pockets as they don't get in the way of backpack waist straps), this jacket has everything you need and nothing you don't. Plus, I adore the "Trellis" color!

Nice snowboarding Jacket

This jacket kept me warm and didn't get wet as much as my old one when snowboarding. Comfortable as well. Are vents are nice. Not a fan of no pockets but the vents you could probably use as pockets.
