True to description

I'm a relatively picky consumer and I was pleased to find that the fit, function and color were true to the sizing chart, product description and photos. I purchased the Elytron color and with a unique color like that, I always find the product is slightly off from the photos. It was not the case here and the photos were dead on. This shell is EXTREMELY light and quality is outstanding read more right down to the micro seams. This jacket left a perfect amount of room under it to layer a thin synthetic long sleeve plus a hoodie, though the fit is nice enough where it could be worn without the hoodie at all and not look baggy. I'd recommend you take your time with self measurements and consult the sizing chart for a good fit, as the chart runs true.

Not fitted; wears like a box

I'm not big, I'm not small; I'm a former athlete with a broad chest and thinner waist. I was looking for a shell that wasn't too big, but didn't slim fit like some bad euro-joke. I've heard great things about Arcteryx from friends, and really liked how they seemed to fit. I just received the Sabre AR in the mail—frankly, the large was an absolute monster; sleeves a good 4 inches read more longer than my arms, and the waist at hip was 4-5 inches wider than I am. I understand that base/mid-layers need to be accounted for, but this thing could fit another insulated jacket underneath it, with room to spare. The rating in no way reflects the quality; I'm sure it's quite high. I just was expecting something that didn't wear like a trash bag.

Best Ski Jacket I've Ever Owned

I've gone back and forth between insulated ski jackets and shells, enjoyed both, but I've finally decided that I like the layering ability a shell provides. This jacket is hands down the best I've ever owned. The attention to detail is amazing, which shouldn't come as a surprise given it's Arc'teryx (and the price). The jacket fits slim through the torso, with enough room to layer read more even in very cold weather (baselayer, fleece, light down jacket), but doesn't look goofy when you're wearing it as just a shell. A bonus for a light flannel layer on the inside of the torso which makes it softer and helps with the insulation. The jacket is nice and long (and slightly longer in the back) helping to keep snow out of the jacket and pants during powder days. The sleeves have plenty of room so range of motion isn't affected when fully layered up, and they are nice and long to get well past the cuffs of my mittens. Being a ski jacket, it has all of the typical features: powder skirt, loops that hook to the matching pants, metal bar in the sleeve, plenty of pockets inside and out and a well designed hood that can fit over a helmet. I got the Yugen color which is modern and just enough of a pop of color without being overstimulating. I was surprised that I was a medium according to the sizing chart, but it fits perfect.

Protection in All conditions

The first thing I noticed with the Sabre AR is that it is not like most other winter shells. Besides Arc'teryx superb build quality I noticed that this jacket felt heavier than a traditional shell. When throwing this jacket on it feels solid like it could take an endless number of seasons without ever being worn out. The backing of the shell is lined with a thin fleece that adds read more some insulation to the jacket. I was instantly impressed with the performance and fit of the jacket. The Gore-Tex membrane kept me from ever overheating while still keeping me dry in the gnarliest conditions. It runs a tad large fitting a little more relaxed which was perfect amount of room for fitting extra layers. I have taken this thing out in Utah blower whiteout conditions and the jacket never wetted in any spots and the hood coverage was phenomenal for keeping out snow (from the jacket not the beard) The Arcteryx Sabre AR is perfect for skiing and riding in all conditions. I would not recommend this Jacket for touring being heavy and not easily packable. This jacket will be my go-to for resort riding for some time to come!

Super Rad Shell

Really stoked on this jacket. It's been snowing like crazy here in Utah, so finally got on the Backcountry skis and went for a Halloween tour. It was 11 degrees at the start of the tour, and I run really hot, so this shell was totally perfect to keep me the perfect temperature. Once I started getting a little more toasty, I was able to open up the pit-zips and regulate my temp read more really well. Once it was time to transition and start heading down the mountain, It was amazing on the ski down. Completely kept out the bitter wind and kept the snow out while I was getting some October face shots. As far as fit goes, it fits kinda big, but just enough to totally layer up underneath it. Then honestly, my favorite thing about Arcteryx, is the zippers. The zippers on this thing are as smooth as butter. I cant wait to continue to put this jacket through the wringer the rest of the winter! Pray for Snow!!!
