Poorly designed fit

Normally, I really like Arc'teryx products. I have several jackets/softshells, and they are generally well thought out from a durability, fit, function perspective. This beanie fits poorly - I have a smaller head size and the beanie just begins to slip off my head. I probably should have sent this back. There are many other options out there with similar materials of construction read more and better fit. Smartwool for example.

Best Lightweight Beanie

Bought it for my son to keep his head warm during those fall/winter long runs. Its worked out perfectly just enough to cover his ears and breathes well.

Essential item!

I have owned the RHO beanie in Coyote and Black for about 3 years now. Only one has been stretched out due too my large melon and extreme use. The Merino wool blend regulates temperature and moisture phenomenally and does not hold smell like some of the poly blend beanies. The thing amazes me with how thin and lightweight it is while maintaining phenomenal heat retention.

Functional for Touring

I gave this as a gift and here is what they have to say. I received this hat as a gift to be used for alpine touring and other cold weather aerobic activities. I like to be able to have my head breathe but keep my ears covered. I usually go with a buff or headband and it works ok, but the sweat in my hair ends up freezing and then the cold sets in. This beanie does a great read more job of keeping my ears warm and wicking the sweat from hair while also letting my head breathe. To mirror some of the other reviews, it does look like a swim cap so I’ll give it 5 stars for function and 3 stars for form.

Light and Comfy

All around great piece of gear for active pursuits. I initially thought I was going to hate it because it's very light and thin. I was wrong. By itself or under a helmet it was a wonderful piece of gear whether AT, snowshoeing, or in the mummy bag. Go heavier for more extreme conditions. It worked excellent in the changing weather conditions of the Sierra Nevada a couple weeks read more ago.

love these...so versitile

these are great and can be used in so many different ways--as a wear around cap when not exercising; they are also great under the helmet while skiing or cycling in cold weather. They keep your head warm!

Versatile.

The Rho is a light, breathable standalone cap, and makes an excellent liner for bike, ski, or climbing helmets. You won't get an itchy forehead when you work up a sweat thanks to the merino wool, and the odor-resistance is unparalleled. This was a Christmas gift for my father-in-law, who loves using it for hiking or nordic skiing.

the one quiver job

this beanie is great, gave it to my dad for christmas and he wears it for everything. Skiing under his helmet because of the thin profile, and also out to shovel the walks and in the cold evenings. very low key on the design and logo, making it ideal for any occasion.

most versatile beanie

I bought this thing back in 2015 and have been using it ever since. I usually throw it on whenever it dips below 65 degrees. Even if its a little warm I'll wear it up in the mountains just to keep the sun off my head. Amazing and comfortable material. Fits great under helmets too. Its held up exceptionally well and prob won't ever have to replace it. It's always an essential piece read more of gear and I take it everywhere i go.

Best lil skully ever!

This beanie rocks. Its super thin but really packs the heat and keeps your noggin toasty warm in any kind of weather. It breaths so well I wear it running, hiking and other high output activities and never return home with a soggy hat. Its seriously soft and cozy and I would for sure bring it on a backpacking trip to wear to sleep or under a hat on a cold day. The fit is nice and read more form fitting and covers my ears without any bulk. I got just the "one size fits all" and it fits my medium-ish size head and it also fits my boyfriends head which is much bigger than mine with a lot of hair so this beanie is pretty versatile as far as sizing. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking to do some high output activity this winter! here's a pic of my bf rocking the skully under his hat before a backcountry skiing mission. We both love this hat!

Perfect for a helmet liner

I bought this strictly to wear under my snowboarding helmet. It's thin, keeps my head warm, and isn't too itchy. Perfect! Only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because I don't really like the look--it's sort of like you're wearing a swim cap. That said, it's pretty much what I expected from the photos and description, so if that's the look you're going for, no problem. But for me give read more it 5 stars I would have to have been pleasantly surprised that I didn't mind wearing it around after I take my helmet off.

Great under helmet, or worn on its own

Light enough to fit under a helmet. Stretchy enough that it fits comfortably over my over-sized noggin. Warm enough for days when you just need something to keep the cold air off your head

Great, but very thin.

If you have a small-to-medium-sized head and need a technical/active/under-the-helmet beanie, read no further, because this thing is perfect. It's a bit thin and tight, though (my head is 56cm), so it creates an aesthetic I'm not a fan of. I'll be returning it, because I wanted more of an all-around/casual beanie with the Arc logo, but don't let my tale dissuade you; merino makes read more the ideal beanie material (warm, breathable, non-itchy, antimicrobial, etc.), so grab this thing if you're active and not too large-skulled.

My DO-ALL beanie!

Good fit, light, mid-warm, merino benefits. I use it under my helmet for skiing/ around town / Trekking. Very versatile and breathable. Can store in a pocket. Easy to forget on your head, it's the best do all beanie. Good for aerobic activities and dry fast. Satisfied guy here!

Perfect beanie for cool temperatures

I just tried this out for the first time. I used it in a strenuous, rainy and windy hike. Under the hood of the rain jacket, it was perfect in keeping me warm but not hot. I never felt the need to take it off unlike what I often experience with a thicker Icebreaker beanie. Unless you're working out really hard I don't see this beanie being warm enough for cold weather though, read more but that's very subjective. Like all Arc'teryx product, it is expensive. I'm not sure I would pay full price for this.

Great lightweight beanie for Touring

This beanie is perfect for ski / splitboard touring. It's lightweight so your fat (well mine's fat!) head won't sweat buckets breaking trail in bottomless powder. For colder tours (e.g. this photo!) you'll definitely need a warmer beanie on the way down (if you're not wearing a helmet). Being super light and thin,it can be stuffed in the smallest pocket. I keep it in my pocket read more on inbounds days so I can put it on under my helmet when needed. It's 'merino' style wool, so it doesn't clunk and dries quickly.

Ultimate beanie!

I own a bunch of beanies for variety. But since i have purchased this one I don't wear the others nearly as often. I love this beanie because it is light and comfy. I like have a beanie that doesn't cook you if you pop inside for a bit. It is now my favorite.
