Proton LT

Purchased Proton LT as a stand alone coat for winter driving, errands. Also run as base layer in Rush Jacket. Love this combo. Breathable, super comfortable, great all around layer or by itself.

Awesome cold weather mid-layer

I bought this as a mid layer for snowboarding, and it's really worked well in cold conditions, super light and warm. It's very breathable, as I've worn it a few times when it was warmer then I expected, but never got to sweaty, which I normally do. On top of great functionality, it's super soft and comfy, so I end up wearing it like a sweater to load and drive up and back from read more the mountain even on days I don't ride with it. I love the color, Labryinth, a gorgeous marine green, and while the face feels fragile (which makes sense since it's a layer by design, and is surely key to the breathability), the DWR has keep me comfy in wet windy weather in small does no problem (dog walking, apres, etc.).

Does what it says it does

Out of the box this jacket seems too light to be useful. You don’t feel like you’re getting a lot for your money. However, it works exactly how it is supposed to and as described. I have worn it touring, at the resort, and walking the dog. At the resort under a shell it breathes exceedingly well. It’s helps to achieve a very nice dry warm feeling. Not sweaty and hot. read more I got a little excited and forgot my shell at home on a big Revelstoke Pow day. I had this on, a fleece, and a wool baselayer. I was perfectly dry and warm during a big day of storm riding. It’s not waterproof and not windproof but it’s pretty good at both I wore it for a little bit of a tour up. It immediately stopped a cold breeze that was hitting sweat and warmed me up. It is very light and is baggy enough that you can easily fit a layer or two underneath it. As a dog walker it is not warm to start your walk, about half way through you’ll be wondering if it’s worth the money, but by the end of your walk you will feel warm and content and understand how this jacket works.

Packable, Breathable Alpine Insulation

The Proton LT Jacket is a highly breathable, packable, insulated mid-layer that's meant to do virtually any activity from skiing to climbing. It warm enough to be a stand-alone jacket with 80 grams of Coreloft insulation on the inside but has a shell made of breathable and Fortius Air that allows air to pass in and out but also prevents vapor accumulation/sweat build up, making read more it a perfect insulating layer, as well. The zipper has been updated this year to a "No Slip Zip" so it stays tight in place. I'd describe the Proton LT as a more packable and warmer yet more breathable version of the cult-classic Atom LT. If you prefer the hoodless version of the Proton LT, it will save you about an ounce and a half in weight.

the best adventure piece you can own

with 80 grams of coreloft it keeps you plenty warm, but sheds heat with the exterior fortius face fabric. Weighs nearly nothing, and has an awesome slim fit with a long center back length to make it more harness compatible. awesome piece for touring, climbin, or hiking!

The perfect jacket

Surprisingly warm for the weight and how thin it is. I use it pretty frequently in temps down to 30. With a shell over top it would make this perfect for ski and snowboard days! Most arcteryx jackets are slim fitting and this jacket is no exception!

Very Impressive Technical Jacket

Very comfortable, slim fitting, excellent ergonomics (as Arc'teryx usually does) and it does breath well as advertised. The face fabric seems impressively durable as well. I ended up wanting a hood and went with an Atom LT hoody as it met my needs better with the more wind resistant front and back face fabric, but for those looking for a jacket that provides warmth, some breathability read more and looks good doing it, definitely consider this.

Protect, Breath, Layer or Don't Layer

The jacket is fantastic--if you're considering it even for a moment, pull the trigger on this one. Best performance, breathable yet protective (water/wind resistant---no it's not your Gore-Tex outershell) jacket, awesome to layer under a shell (check out the Alpha FL lightweight performance shell as a nice ultra-light outer layer to pair this with when the skies let loose) or use read more as a stand alone for hiking, backpacking and yes, you'll be tempted to show your outdoor style and throw it on for your casual cruisin. The small yet numerous design details had performance in mind, but the tempation to use it for everything will be hard to resist. I have numerous customers as well as friends and family who have this and swear by it.

More Breathable Alternative to the Atom

I was looking for a piece that could function as a midlayer or outerlayer depending on the conditions and this was the ticket. The Proton LT has quickly become my Go-To for this exact use-case. I love it for resort days where my Cerium will be overkill. I also use it touring. I skin up with this as my outer layer and pop on my shell at the top. I opted with this over the Atom read more because it is a good bit more breathable. I would love it if it were just slightly lighter (warmth wise) but unzipping a bit has been all I needed to ensure I do not overheat. It is also great for cooler morning dog walks and wearing around town. As with all Arc'teryx, I purchased a Medium and it fits perfectly.

Great stylish midlayer goes everywhere

I've never worn the atom but lots of people tell me this is a new step up from that jacket. I was surprised by the warmth offered by such a thin insulated jacket. I throw it on to go do everything. If it's really cold I'll layer it with a shell (sidewinder for me). I really love the fitted cut because I'm tall and thin. Lots of jackets just fit like bags. I'm 6'3" 180 lbs and it read more fells like this jacket (large) was tailored for me.
