Arc'teryx Cerium SL Down Jacket - Men's reviews and deals for sale

The lightest down jacket in the Arc'teryx Essentials collection, the Men's Cerium SL Down Jacket packs a serious punch of lightweight and compressible warmth. Ideal for backcountry tours or backpacking at high elevations, this simplistic insulating layer features Down Composite Mapping for efficient weather protection. 850-fill European grey goose down in the core and sleeves offers maximum air-trapping warmth, while Coreloft 40 and 100 synthetic insulation is placed at the cuffs, shoulders, and pits for moisture management at these wet-prone spots. The ultralight yet durable Arato 7 face fabric won't weigh you down on minimalist backcountry missions, and its DWR finish sheds light snow until you're able to put a waterproof shell on.

Great All-Around'er

I use this jacket as my primary mid-layer while skiing here in Utah. I pair this underneath of the Gamma MX (non-hooded) for dry, mild to cold days, and I pair it with the Beta AR and a warmer base layer (SmartWool 250) for colder and wetter days. I have used to backpack in the high areas of the Tetons and walking down to the pub. It's a true slim fit but looks cleaned-up enough read more to wear out on the town. I wear a Medium in this and the Atom LT, Gamma MX, Cerium LT and a Small in Beta AR, Alpha SV, etc. I have long arms, avg to short torso, slim waist but square shoulders and this fits great.

gift

Bought this as a gift for my dad, and he loves it. He said it keeps him warm while running errands and also works as a great base layer when skiing during those cold midwest winters

Does not hold up well

I bought the jacket because it fit well and is warm for a lightweight down jacket. Almost immediately it sprung multiple leaks. I contacted Arc’teryx and they told me that it was not their fault and that I didn't properly take care of the jacket. I've patched the jacket in 10 spots and there are still a few holes.

Light and warm

My boyfriend uses this jacket as an additional layer on chilly days for skiing. He said that it fits perfectly, maybe a little bigger than expected as he likes this layer to be very form fitting under a shell jacket. It seems to be made well and fits as expected.

Decent! Decent!

the arterix jacket is something else. Super rad sticking allows you to be uber cozy while having a full range of motion. The Gortex keeps you dry yet able to breath better than I have seen in any other jacket.

Arcteryx has no business in business

I bought this coat at a high price with high expectations. After one season it fell apart. Holes allowed so much down to escape that I looked like a baby penguin. I'm not a mountain climber, skier, hiker, etc. I'm the guy who wears this to work in a warm car and walks to a desk. Light adventure might include walking the dog or going to dinner. Still the coat sprang holes everywhere. read more The lifetime warranty won't handle a problem like this because I'll simply get another crap coat. Still, I wanted a new one, because this $300 coat was unwearable. Things get worse now that their staff is involved. Round 1 of the fight involves me taking pictures of all the damage and applying for a return authorization. After this first layer of review by their staff I'm awarded the return. Lucky me! Now I have to box it and pay for shipping to Washington state. Next is the waiting period. One month until it reaches their Canada warranty center and I get an email stating that this is not a warranty claim anymore. Now it's a repair job and at my cost of $120 more. Their justification for this is that I didn't wear my coat correctly. Believe it, that's what I was told. This is only a mid-layer and must not be worn outside as a top shell or holes are the result. I write an angered reply asking for reconsideration and explaining my situation. No luck. I now get a phone call from some corporate puppet telling me the same bad news and that he refuses to replace or repair the coat at no cost. It's clear now that this coat and the warranty aren't worth a shot of urine. I have two other down coats that never have had issues. One is 15 years old and has zero holes in it. This company doesn't care about quality, customer service, integrity or you. Spend your money and time elsewhere, enjoying a coat that works and with a company that stands behind their product. I should mention that the jacket has still not been returned to me and now the waiting period has been over 3 months. This is the worst experience I've had with customer service in my 46 years by far.

Good utility's piece instead of a fleec

For packability I take this rather than my R2 Patagonia fleece. Can't say I've really hiked/ snowpacked hard in it so not sure how well it insulates when sweat soaks it after exercising heavily.

Exceptional jacket - weight to warmth

Purchased the jacket on sale in late November and has been a great jacket. The fit has been great vs. Other jackets in the market I tried. The range of motion with this jacket fits like a glove. Only area I will be interested in for long time use is the material holding up. I have read some posts thst the material can come apart easily if scraped etc. Love the brand so far, will read more be back for more in the future. Thank you to backcountry for carrying a great assortment of brands to choose. Regards, upstate NY

Surprisingly warm for how light it is

This is my second Arcteryx Cerium jacket. The first I purchased was a size large and was a little too snug. My son happily took that one so I purchased another, size XL. I used my previous jacket quite a bit during the winter. The jacket is extremely light but definitely keeps you warm. I was a little skeptical the first time I went to Flagstaff, AZ in January and it was zero degrees. read more Despite how could it was, the jacket kept me very warm.

Doesn't get any better

Warm but not hot, perfect fit for athletic figure, light like feather, folded into the sack of 2-fist size - ideal for travel. Not a surprise for the quality and tailoring - it is Arcteryx. Promised 2 day delivery but arrived within one day! Can't be happier.

High quality, light and warm.

I was looking for versatile down item to use for layering for various activities, like hiking, backcountry camping, skiing and just casual wear around town, and when travel. This is high priced piece, though is definitely worth the expense. Attention to details, and highest quality of material is obvious. Only negative is that bird logo is not stitched one. I may add more information read more after first couple skiing and camping trips.

Go-To puff coat

Bulletproof and is hands down the best down puffy I own. Super light and has stuff sac for compressing into my pack and staying organized. Only gripe is I should have bought the hooded version. Runs a tough small but Super Sweet item!

Arc'teryx Cerium SL Down Jacket

Pros: Ultralight weight, stuff sack included, packs down very small. Cons: Fit. For me, Medium was too snug, Large is big in the shoulders. I seem to fall right in-between sizes with Arcteryx. For reference, In the Arcteryx Atom LT I am a Large and in the Patagonia Ultralight Down Jacket I am a Medium. Side note: Wish they used Hydrophobic down.

All around awesome

This jacket is very warm for it's almost nonexistent weight. The fit is somewhat unique. I am 6'3" and 190lbs. the XL is a great contoured slim fit. Hugs the body nicely but still room to layer and move. Very odd though I have the Cerium LT as well and ordered a XL as well. definitely a boxier cut in the torso. I go to the gym A LOT so the XL fits my shoulders and chest but read more I have a 32" waist so a V shape for sure. I am not sure why the two practically identical jackets are cut different but for those of you on the fence I thought I would share. I ordered the Azul and it's a great color in the sunlight. I feel the build quality is top notch and I have taken a walk at 29* and been just fine with a cotton T shirt on underneath. I'd say if I had to stand around a heavier jacket would be better. Hope this helps.

Pound for pound the best

My "go-to" jacket for technical and casual wear. As with most clothing Arc-Teryx makes, their sizing seems to be for the more slim built frames. Therefore, being 6' 195lb, I simply increase what would normally be a Large in most other outdoor clothing lines and order the XL in Arc-teryx.

Buy it!!!!!

I've been on a search for the perfect lightweight coat for months. I've ordered the lightweight coats from TNF, Marmot, Mammut, and Mountain Hardware. Either the fit wasn't good, they were too puffy, zipper on the wrong side, etc. This one is perfect. It's the lightest coat I've ever owned and I have a bunch them. It's not only light but almost winter coat warm. I have a puffy read more TNF coat and it's as warm but 1/10th the weight. What a great value and the fit is perfect. I'm 6'2" 195 and its athletic fit, good sleeve length, good waist length, and just the right snugness. I bought a Large. You won't be disappointed.

Really nice but a little tight

I love Arteryx jackets. They usually fit me pretty well. Reading some comments on this one and can echo those that say it's top quality, compressible, extremely warm for being so light, but tighter around the waste and chest than most Arteryx jackets. Being a mid layer it's better being a little tight so I'm not sure if I'll keep it or get a bigger size? It all depends read more if I use it for what it was designed for our decide I simply want something casual. It looks and feels really nice.

Scrawny malnourished supermodel sizing.

WTF are the people at Arc'teryx thinking with their sizing? Don't get me wrong.. I love the jacket but the sizing is just too weird. I have many different Arc'teryx products from pants to jackets to packs to gloves. I have never had issues with their sizing before this jacket. I am usually between a medium and a large for jackets and tops from them. This one is tight read more as hell in a large through the chest. What is it with the new metrosexual cuts and sizing coming out? I am not tall at all and this large is fine through the arms and torso on me. I have to warn anyone that the sizing is just weird as hell with this jacket. The jacket is a great piece and I would prefer it to any other thin down puffy out there. The sizing just isn't going to cut it. I will give it 3 stars though if the cut was normally sized I would give it 5.
