Hurt my feet

The boot is fairly warm and felt ok when I first tried it on, but I have used it 3 times and each time it hurt my feet. The problem happens when the boot flexes, the thicker rubber material deflects downwards and lands on top of my foot. After hundreds of ski glides it gets pretty painful. So far, I have had to cut all of my trips in this boot short due to feet hurting.

Nice boot but not waterproof

I wanted a new boot that would fit like my old Alpina's so I bought this boot. The tongue looked like it would leak so I tested it. It isn't even water resistant. Snow under a gator would easily get into the boot. That isn't what I want in a XC boot. I don't understand why a Nordic Boot wouldn't be made to keep your feet dry.

All Day Comfort

I have these paired with the Rottafella Magnum BC Bindings and than the Alpina Control 64 and these boots have exceeded expectations. This have a great amount of insulation which keeps your feet and toes plenty warm, with the leather upper and burly plastic toe piece offer great protection from the elements. The fit and feel of these boots are superb, and I have never got a blister… read more or even the slightest hint of one. The ankles are tight and supportive without being overly cumbersome. I was surprised by how light these were for being so burly and could not be happier. I would recommend these for any looking for a good BC boot that is not to burly but provides great support and comfort.

Comfortable

I don't have much to compare these to, as I'm new to cross country skiing, but my initial impression is that I'm impressed by the amount of comfort they offer. The inside is soft and plush, and they offer enough support without being super rigid.

It being winter now, I am sure others are looking for ski gear, and want to offer some initial impressions following my first time out on these. I bought this for backcountry skiing in Colorado, when laying out timber sale boundaries in deep snow. Skis have proved a quicker method of travel than snow shoes, especially at the end of the day when the truck is back downhill. I was able to use these boots for the first time this past week. My first day using them I was on skis for 6 hours straight, save for a half hour lunch break. Pros: No blisters! Feet were warm. I was wearing Darn Tough socks, and I was keeping a consistent level of activity. Temperature was in the mid to upper 30s (Fahrenheit), so not too cold. My feet didn't feel overheated either though. Even once out of the skis, the boots are still comfortable to walk around in. Soles have a medium flexibility, so I am still able to give a slight kick, but not over-exert my toes. While my legs were certainly upset with me, my feet remained happy. Cons: I think a stiffer tongue would be nice, as the soft tongue on these boots tends to bunch up when tightening the laces. I would prefer a slightly wider toe, but that's just me. I am just slightly wider than a D width for standard shoes. Also, there is no ring for attaching snow gaiters. This is not a huge issue, as I think I will probably fix a key-ring to the center lace loop at the bottom of the tongue, but I feel backcountry ski boots ought to have this feature built in. Final thoughts: I think this is a good buy. Especially for a novice backcountry skier such as myself. If you like the NNN-type binding, and want to go off trail, you can't go too wrong with these.

I just ordered these in a 41. I usually wear a 40.5. Any idea on Alpina's fit? Big/small?
