Alpina Alaska Backcountry Boot reviews and deals for sale

The Alpina Alaska Backcountry Boot doesn't mess around when it comes to keeping your feet warm when you're exploring the high country. Built like a mountaineering boot, these NNN BC binding-compatible Nordic boots are made with a burly leather upper, protective rubber rand, and waterproof membrane to put the handle on the worst winter conditions.

A medium flex is stiff enough to get a little glide going on the flats, without being too stiff to navigate variable terrain and snow in comfort. For warmth, the Alaska Backcountry Boots are insulated with low-bulk Thinsulate synthetic insulation. The footbed is shaped to fit comfortably with the natural shape of your feet, and the soft collar helps to keep your ankle comfortable whether you're side-stepping a steep slope, or moving at a quick clip through rolling valleys and over frozen lakes.

Question.

How is the volume on this boot? I have wide feet. Trying to decide between the Alaska and the 1550. Thanks

Worth every penny!

Had been trying to turn my Madshus Annum skis with the Rossignol BC X6 nnn BC boot - it sucked, and every slight downhill seemed like a near-death experience. I love the manual nnn bc binding system and didn't want to upgrade to a 3-pin or full tele binding. Fast forward to getting the Alpina Alaska boot - these things are awesome! Enough power and control to turn in powder. read more Enough glide to cruise, and they're totally comfortable out of the binding! They're expensive, but I'm having a blast in the sub AT terrain along the Front Range above Boulder now!

Perfect Upgrade

I finally upgraded my trusty old Alpina 1560s in early December and what a home run! I love these boots for the same reasons other reviewers have mentioned, warmth, comfort, turnability. Due to a GREAT start to winter in Maine I have been able to ski my Alaskas daily for weeks that will hopefully turn into months. Sizing: my normal size is 11.5 and my Nepal EVOs are 46s and these read more are too - same sizing with room to try slightly different sock thickness in the medium range. Ideally, you should be required to have a pair of 1560's for 2+ years before you get these so you can truly appreciate them.

Great choice for sub-AT terrain

Got these for touring rolling terrain that isn't quite steep enough to AT. They're a perfect blend of stiffness and flex - no break-in pain yet, and I can even brute force parallel turns out of my xc skis in soft snow. They are warm. The fit is large, even with a thicker sock. I generally take size 11 s 45 EURO/ 28.5 Mondo and the 44.0 fits perfectly with a medium weight sock. read more

Tasty

These boots are super warm and comfy. I used them for a full season last year and I wouldn't recommend any other boot. Make sure you get the correct size.

Blister Bashers

I used these boots one time and they shredded my feet (blisters on both feet). Returning these fast.

Can anyone comment on the width of these boots? I need an EE or even EEE.

Are the insoles removable? I'm wondering if I could use a high volume Superfeet insole to take up extra space in the boot.
